He has had a good year so far averaging 25 or so a game and has many schools looking at him. He did not get the points he usually does but did have 10 assists and other kids on the team helped out. No kid is going to play good on offense every game but some kids help in other ways if their shots are not going in....

A good player will do just that...the 10 assists are awsome.:thumb:

Yeah but haveing 13 points 10 assists isn't great considering there's only one D1 recruit that plays for pc Kane Belcher the big center. But that is a good accomplishment for Mr.Stepp congrats toJBS.

June Buchanan is tough. Solid W to start off the 5/3rd.

Tubby was probably out just watching basketball. There is no way to tell whether he was there to watch any player. Does he have to tell the gate that he is here to watch a particular player? There's just no way to tell.

PC is not the PC team of the last couple of years.... #50 Belcher is a stud, but really no one else really impressed. #12 Stepp didn't impress me at all, as he just looked lost. He was called twice for five seconds, and his shot was off all night long. #24 Cox the Frosh, was the player of the 1st half for JB as he shot, passed and played some great "D". #32 Short also impressed me as did the younger #4 Step. JB is not very deep, and as such will have trouble with teams who are just as talented but have a bench. The quality of play for JB was high in the 1st and 3rd quarters, but in the 2nd and 4th quarter they got tired. JB plays LexCath at 8pm in gym #1 and I don't think JB is deep enough to stay with LexCath.......

Overall thoughts:

 

1) If June Buchanan doesn't compete for the 14th region title, then I will be very suprised. Against Pendleton County they used a zone, but sometimes they would extend it 3/4 and full court. IMO it was effective because PC's undersized guards had trouble throwing over it. Belcher did end up having 17 points and over 10 rebounds, but he definitely had to work for it. They also have all of the tools to win their region.

 

2)Clark Stepp, IMO, is a PLAYER. Yes I know that he did not score as much as he usually does, but he definitely impressed me. He is great at taking two dribbles with one hand then crossing over one time and drawing defenders to kick it out to wide open shooters. People don't realize how valuable this is, especially when you have a good shooting team(in which JBS does). He had ten assists, but it seemed like he had more. Many people probably didn't notice this, but he shoots with both hands very well. I think he is originally is left handed, but he shot a few right handed jump shots and floaters.

 

3) I thought Pendleton County played hard and held their own. Like I said in the PC/JBS preview thread, matchups was going to be a key. It was. One downfall for JBS was their bench. They didn't have many subs and I noticed they got tired easily a couple of times. Also give credit to PC for pushing the ball to cause fatigue. Tate Cox has a pure shot from the corner. I was only there for 3 1/2 quarters and he must of hit 4 or 5 from the same spot. The big kid was also solid as well as the other Buchanan players. A game like this is nothing below good for an inexperienced Pendleton team.

Belcher-17, Harden-15, Lambert-12, Crozier-8. Was a very good game and PC kept it close till the end and starting fouling and couldn't score at the end to make up for the fouls, but they played hard and hopefully they can win the consolution bracket.

I am not sure if Stepp will play D-1 ball or not but he still has a year to improve in some areas. His outside shot has improved this year and I think that will decide how far he goes. He might not play bigtime D-1 ball but I hear that Eastern,Western,etc are recruiting him.

 

You are right about Cox in that he is very impressive in his game and he could turn out to be something special. He is only a freshman. As a matter of fact this team does not start any seniors...
