I can see this coming, I mean he has been recruited from 7th grade and being the top dog on his teams. And then coming to U of L and not being it, he probably didn't like it one bit. And you know Pitino ain't going to take anyone's attitude.

The kid did drop some serious weight. So there is some desire on his behalf.

 

I have witnessed practices of Pitino where he blew up on Roderick Rhodes.

One of Rhodes's problems was that his brother moved into town and wasconstantly in his ear.

Pitino once told RR that he would gift-wrap him and send him home for Christmas. Obviously, there was some flavored language to it...

I see lots of desire from Caracter, on court and off you can tell he WANTS it really badly. But that's not the same as being coachable.

I have heard that Pitino is ridiculously tough on DC. I hope it works out for him in the long run.

I guess all the talk for Rick Bozich about Caracter's departure being a forgone conclusion was a little premature. Or Earl Clark being on the next train behind him.

As far as I know, Caracter was sent home to get his head on straight. He didn't get a $500 hand shake or get kicked off the team. So I don't see how we can compare him to the situations you bring up.

 

The bottom line is that Carracter worked his butt of to get in shape, but still hasn't learned the first thing about being coachable. There's nothing rotten in Denmark. He's an incredible talent that played for a thousand different high schools and doesn't know how to deal with adversity. I think he'll be back, and I know the Louisville fans will welcome him with open arms when he does.

Every time someone brings up something that is a negative for another program you jump all over it. when it is your beloved Cardinals you want everyone to bow down and believe everythig is all roses. I simply posted on Caracter being sent home just as you have done many times on UK athletes that have made mistakes. The only difference this time is it involves one of your homies and someone made it public reading. I hope all of your Louisville fans welcome him back as you say; "with open arms" because in most of your post on other athletes that make mistakes a 2nd chance is not in the Cards (pun intended).

I think you need to reread every post I've made in this thread (including the one you quoted) I think I've been pretty critical of Caracter.

 

As to your point, that's exactly what I mean. Caracter wasn't kicked off the team, arrested, or anything like that. He was sent home to get some perspective and think about how to be a more mature adult. And now he's back. In the case of the UK players, that's not going to happen, so I don't see how you can say that the only difference is that Caracter is a Louisville player... there also appears to be a wide gap in the situations.

 

In closing, I think if you look on this site, I've been accused of being too kind to players looking for a second chance or redemption. For example, my stance on Barry Bonds is that what he was doing was legal in MLB in the steroid era, and that MANY other players were doing the same thing. You're basing your opinion of my views on one case, where I never argued the player didn't deserve a second chance, just that he had made a mistake and it doesn't go away. A second chance is not a clean slate.
