Reds at Royals (7/5 - 7/7)

Recommended Posts

The Reds take the first game of the 3 game series in Kansas City 6-2. The Reds get a good outing from Gutierrez who only gave up 2 runs over 6 innings. The Reds also got a solo homer from Castellanos and a 3 run shot by Suaez in the top of the 7th. The Reds bullpen did another great job only allowing 2 hits over the final 3 innings.

Just when you thought it was safe to count on the bullpen.........................

Reds served a heaping helping of humble pie, blow a three run lead going into the bottom of the 9th, and KC walks off with a RARE win.

True. A team effort with 4 different pitchers failing in the last two innings and no help from the defense with two errors, all together gifting the win to the Royals.

Shame for Castillo to pitch like that, leave after 7 with a 5 run lead and get nothing to show for it!!!  Leave everything else the same, with just a decent bullpen we’re at least even with the Brewers

Again, the back of the baseball card speaks volumes and many of these bullpen guys were available for a reason.  If ownership does not want to improve the team then all of this falls on them.

I am not holding my breath for any sort of impactful move.  I am a firm believer they are thinking that if they can just keep within striking distance of first with what they've got now, they'll get a boost (without having to give anything up) when Lorenzen (and now Sims and Antone) return.

I would say that is their 3 best relief pitchers.

No argument here.  However, this year you have to include "when healthy".  None of the three are helping the Reds right now, and will have question marks next to them when they do come back.
