I was just looking up Arlo's overall record against Coach Krumps (I graduated with Arlo). Looks like he's 13-18 against Krumps, but he's 3-0 against him when it really counts - in the 9th Region Tournament.

It's not impossible to bunt on Turf. And really, I haven't seen Covington Catholic bunt as much as people think they do over the past several years. The reality is, lots of teams bunt just as much and bunts at the high school level are usually so poorly defended, it's really a good tactic, even on turf. The only old school tactic Covington Catholic still regulary does that I think hurts them is having batters swing through pitches to protect runners stealing. Giving away strikes and putting batters in a hole I think is way more problematic than bunting too much. But they win 20+ games every single year in a difficult region, so they have to be doing a lot of stuff right.

It's not easy to win a region. They've run up against some very good Highlands and Beechwood teams over the last few years. And yes, there have been a couple upsets where they've run up against a stud pitcher in an early round. But in my opinion, it's been bad luck/running up against really good teams that's kept them from winning the region, not playing on turf. They will win region again, and likely sooner than later.
