December 21, 200619 yr I don't know...many will tell you, JJ is what I was all about for the life of me, in college basketball, I am concerned that he will disappear, I hope not though. I just dont see a great shooter like him not making shoots for long. Hope he come around soon i dont like Duke but i loved to watch JJ play he played with so much heart and 110percent all game.
December 21, 200619 yr Author ^ Me too... I hope he comes around, or my hatred for the NBA will continue.
December 21, 200619 yr I don't see JJ doing all that well in the pro's....not trying to be pessimistic or anything but I just don't see it.
December 21, 200619 yr Author ^ I am starting to think that way as well...though I think if healthy he can make some noise.

Also, he isn't a regular right now, probably because of his prior back injury. Give him time, and while he might not be a superstar, he will be a solid player.

I haven't watched him at all in the pro's, so I'm not going off of what he's currently doing, but what he needs to be successful.
December 21, 200619 yr I was telling a friend of mine earlier today, that this season, is going to set me up for the biggest in disappointments....Duke is #6 in the country and there is no way that there is a more overrated team in the country....Duke is still struggling to find its identity...the one thing that I do think will happen, is Josh McRoberts ending up a first team All American.... here's to another year withouth the Final Four. If you really feel this way, I don't understand where the disappointment is going to come from. You're not expecting anything from them, so anything they do should come as a pleasant surprise, and not a disappointment IMO.

The more dissapointed you are in Puke the happier I will be. Sounds like Coach Commercial is going to have to come up with a few more national televised recruiting pitches.:sssh: :sssh: My favorite college basketball teams are U.K. and whoever is playing Duke, Tenn. or U.L. on any given night.
December 21, 200619 yr ^ I am starting to think that way as well...though I think if healthy he can make some noise. I think a lot of it will depend on him getting in the right situation. If he gets with a team/coach that finds the most efficient and effective way to utilize his strengths and mask his weaknesses, along with having a couple of guys who can create shots for other players and draw defense away...I think he can be pretty successful in a setup like that. Similar to a B.J. Armstrong/Steve Kerr type in Chicago...only I think he could possibly bring a little more all-around game to the table than Kerr.
December 21, 200619 yr I don't see JJ doing all that well in the pro's....not trying to be pessimistic or anything but I just don't see it. JJ's best role would be best served if like Steve Kerr from the championship Bulls teams.

December 22, 200619 yr Author Great win by Duke last night...I really like how tough their defense is so far.
December 22, 200619 yr This Gonzaga game is technically a road game...but is more neutral than anything else.... I would have to respectfully disagree. Duke has a huge advantage in NYC and last night was no different. All of Madison Square Garden was for the Dookies. I even heard several "Let's Go Duke!" chants! And it wasn't even technically a home game, since Duke even wore the white jerseys! But I understand your point about not enough tough road games. I think Duke gets into a comfort zone and home or "almost home" (MSG, Greensboro) and they don't really know how to win tough road games. I don't see this year's team being any different.
December 22, 200619 yr This Duke team will be extremely dangerous in March...while they might not have the elite name like JJ or Shelden, they still have a lot of talent. They're young and the ones that did play a lot last year were just role players behind the two big guys. I think they'll be more of a complete team this year, and these young guys will improve as the season progresses and grow into their roles. We know they have a great coach and this year they're getting to fly under the radar a bit...at least as much as Duke can fly under the radar. I really think they'll have a great shot at another final four...I'm not buying the Duke down-and-out story...they just have some unknown talent, but talent it is. They'll be a serious contender come March...and they might benefit from not being the heavy favorite. It could make them play with something to prove, like they have a chip on their shoulder. Poor old Duke...
