Jerod Smith (Somerset '24) Recruiting

Recommended Posts

Smith, a 6'4" linebacker/defensive end/edge has taken advantage of Kentucky's new re-do law and has reclassified to be a member of the class of 2024.

In his freshman year (2019) he had 55 total tackles, 4.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles in addition to rushing 45 times for 296 yards and 4 TDs. This past season (2020) he saw much more limited action on offense, only rushing 12 times for 73 yards and 1 TD, but on defense he tallied up 66 total tackles, 8 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery (returned for a TD), and 1 INT.

Smith currently holds offers from:

Arizona
Boston College
Mississippi
Virginia

I may be wrong, but I believe Jerod Smith has transferred to Loomis Chaffee, a boarding school in Connecticut.

Kind of strange offers for a kid from Kentucky.

I agree. It’s odd for a Kentucky kid to have ACC, PAC-12, and SEC offers... but none from any school in the state. Or within a 6 hour drive from home for that matter.

I believe it's part of the HC's connections from Loomis Chaffee. Not saying that's why they have the offers because they're great kids with tremendous talent, but saying that's why the places seem a little different.
