Now, if UC could play a mid major schedule, they might do alright.

I’m a little concerned early. Bringing two kids from UNCG feels like when Brannen brought Vogt. He barely played at NKU, then he’s a two year starter at UC. These kids might work out. But it’s a little scary for me.

I'm not too worried. UC returns 3 starters and 5 of their top 7. Have to add role players off the bench and that's exactly what the two UNCG guys provide.

Koval only takes up a scholarship for one year which helps balance out the classes and by all accounts, Hensley is much better than the freshman season he had. Weird situation as he had offers from LSU and UNLV out of HS and was a 4* recruit but ended up at UNCG.

Miller needed to stabilize the roster and he's done that. I'd be more worried if these two were being brought in to play starter level minutes, but that doesn't seem to be the case with either transfer.

Yeah. Definitely a different situation. But most kids moving “up” expect their roles to increase. I’m excited about this team. Getting the majority of the guys back was a huge relief. Sucking isn’t fun. Just want them to be competitive and build towards something.

In regards to Koval, I think he will be a nice piece off the bench. He has shown he can compete and be effective against higher level teams in recent years:

19-20:

v Baylor: 12 pts, 3 rbs, 3 ast, 3 blks

v Georgetown: 21 pts, 4 rbs, 3 blks

v Duke: 6 pts, 4 rbs, 4 blks

v Wichita St: 9 pts, 4 blks, 3 ast

v Marquette: 0 pts, 6 blks, 4 rbs

18-19:

v Pitt: 10 pts, 7 rbs, 3 blks

v Louisville: 5 pts, 5 rbs (13 mins)

v Indiana: 16 pts, 3 rbs

v Oklahoma St: 21 pts, 8 rbs

Freshman year at Central Arkansas he had 15 & 8 against UCLA and 8 & 5 against Oregon.

At 7'1, he's 33% from 3 during his career (130-389) and averages 3 blocks per game. Considering UC has had ZERO rim protection these past 2 years, his shot blocking ability alone makes him a great addition to next year's team.

As far as Hensley... His freshman numbers are identical to what Jeremiah Davenport did his freshman year. JD turned out alright. Lets see what Hensley does after a "normal" off season of S&C and development before judging him.

Georgia assistant Chad Dollar will be added as the third and final assistant. Dollar recruited Anthony Edwards to Georgia. UC hasn't had a recruiter of his caliber on staff since Tony Stubblefield. Wes killed it with his bench staff additions (Mike Roberts, Andre Morgan, Chad Dollar). Major upgrades compared to the previous staff.

Another big time hire for Wes... Mike was unreal during his time at UC under Mick. One of the best S&C coaches in the country.

Based on recent tweets... Looking like Dermarr Johnson will be added as Director of Player Development.

Former Covcath star Jake Thelen  is a name that has come up to fill the Director of Basketball Operations position. He's currently at Georgia, after spending some time at Indiana.
