A lot of bashing on WYMT.

You guys really don't appreciate a good thing.

Name another TV station that puts as much time and effort into High School sports.

Not shane on WYMT. Shame on ALL OF YOU that bashed a TV station for giving any thought about these kids.

You guys stated that it was a lazy show... give me a break. On the list, there is like 50 plus kids from 43 teams that WYMT covers.

WLEX, WTVQ, WKYT.... do any of them put together a show like this.... NO, because it's probably too hard!!!

Generally you are correct, WYMT puts forth a great effort. This show was not one of them and I take no shame in criticizing them for it. If the are going to have an All-Mountain Team, take the time to do it correctly. Of those 43 teams, 246 of 258 offesive linemen got NO opportunity to be recognized, regardless of talent level, because it was done as a unit. Imagine your son (an offensive lineman) sitting there watching the show thinking there might be a possibility he could get some regional recognition and getting served a dose of that.

Hats off to WYMT!!!

Not this time.

This was a joke, should poll the head coaches. How does Clay Co. have 4 players on 1st and 2nd team and finishes 4th in there district. Knox central beat them like a drum and gets one on Honorable mention. The same goes for Bell Co. (JOKE)(JOKE)

I thought the show was another great effort from WYMT, however the picking of entire offensive and defensive lines is just another symptom of the neverending disease of these individuals getting overlooked. Radio folks do it. Coaches do it. Newspaper folks do it. These guys just don't get the recognition they deserve. IMO anytime you are picking a all-anything team, you should take the time to pick linemen individually. They are as much a part of the game as the pardon my sick stomach at this term "skilled" players. Without them the big QB/RBs wouldn't get squat. So I would just ask the folks at YMT, which I thing a lot of, to buck this trend and give the big guys the same credit you do the "pub players" next year.

WYMT, thanks for all you do recognizing our boys all fall. You do a tremendous job and I really appreciate it. :thumb:

That said get the linemen and defensive picks right next year. :fight:

Did you watch the show???

Slusher made the All-Defense team.

And he was the number 7 or 8 play of the year.

You missed my point. Where is the two defensive teams...ala the offense? They are replaced with a non-descript list of 20 defenders....no first or second team defense. I love SportsOvertime, but last year's show was far superior. I do not like lumping the classes together except for major awards. The teams by class was much more fair and representative last year. Several Bell players who were recognized last year were ignored this year. Level of play for 3-A in Mountains is far superior to 1-A. It should be considered if you lump them into one team. Separate them out next year as before. Add the plays, etc. for interest, but keep the teams and positions by class. Honor individuals at the positions, not whole units.

Pikeville was the Class A "D".

Lynn Camp was the Class A "O".

Sheldon Clark was the Class 2A "O".

Belfry was the Class 2A "D".

I'm not for sure who the 3A's were.

Point being...they picked units last year... and they recognized more teams.

YMT mentioned some of the top O-linemen (Aaron Warren, Casey Allen, Bobby Burton, and Brad Durham). I have yet to see any posters put their top O-linemen individualluy.

How was last year's show any better???

Send me a sample of what you're smoking....

I can't comment on Pikeville...cause I have not seen their D. What I know, Harlan beat Hazard 34-0 at Hazard. Hazard outscored Pikeville at Pikeville and won. Lynn Camp Didn't beat anybody that mattered. Somerset was the far better offense in our district, and for that matter in the region. Lynn Camp was not as good as Williamsburg offensively. (or Cumberland for that Matter)

I guess you missed Middlesboro and Brethitt Co.'s "O". Prolly can't agrue about Belfry's "D".

As far as linemen, they got Durham..but how about James from Harlan, 2nd team CJ All State....No mention.

I stand by my statements! Good Station, Great Effort most of the time, Poor Show.

I will do the research required and post my All Mountain Offensive Line. I have no problem with that!

That was last year's All-Mountain selections that I posted.

Blake James is a heck of a player, I'll give you that... but the CJ also had Shawn Grim as an Honorable mention. I don't put a lot of stock in th CJ All-State Team "voted on by coaches".

Coaches can by a little biased.

John Johnson - Shelby Valley

Brad Durham - Rock

Aaron Warren - Belfry

Bobby Burton - Belfry

Casey Allen- Breathitt

Derek Miracle - Bell

Sam Schmidt - Sheldon Clark

Those are a few of the best.

:thumb: I completely agree, this was a major cop out. Picking O-line as a unit and defense as a unit a lot of really good and deserving kids got dissed.

100% agreement here. Thought it was a shame that kids get left off the way they did. I know that as a Williamsburg fan we would have loved to have a bit of recognition on defense, where you had a kid like Aaron Root who was district 7 linebacker of the year, with 174 tackles, 2 interceptions, and a few fumble recoveries as well. Although Williamsburg did not win the district, Thomas Frazier led class a in passing until the playoffs, yet he only was honorable mention. It is a shame that kids like these two, because they are at a small school didn't get the recognition desrved, but I guess the good thing is we will get to see both playing at the college level next year on Saturdays.

Hat's off to WYMT Sports they do a great job in getting the scores of all of the games and showing alot of the highlights of the games you don't see these Lexington channels show or do as much as WYMT does so give them a break. WYMT keep doing what you all do and keep showing the mountain teams as they play.

I hate to bump this thread back to the top. However, I was looking through and noticed some of the comments made about WYMT. I think they did a wonderful job in their selections. To be honest, I don't think there was anyone in Harlan good enough to be placed on there this season. Cawood's Mikey White may have gotten a break. I'm not saying there was no talent in Harlan, but there was just more talent elsewhere. A_DRAGON2, I'm sure you have ties to the Harlan High School football team. You may even be a player. In my opinion, Blake James isn't a 2nd team All-State lineman. I have played against some of the better lineman in the last 5 years in Kentucky. I played against them at camps, and some on the field. Some of these great players, didn't make the All-State team. With all due respect, Mr. James would not have competed with a lot of those guys. I know he is a good player, and I give him that, but not second team, and not even All-Mountain. Sorry.

Everyone that complained about the "poor" job WYMT did, how would you like if they decided to not do an All-Mountain team after next season? If your kids are true football players, accolades are of no concern to them. They had the top twenty defensive players. A first and second defensive team would be 22 players. Basically all WYMT did was cut out the punter. Most punters have other primary positions anyway. Keep complaints to yourself and be thankful they took the time to consider your son for their awards.

I agree with on of the above poster when I say hats off to WYMT, Brian Milam and Brandon Hensley for a job well done.

Amen!!!!!! I agree 100%. I know it is only my opinion and everybody has one but what WYMT does for the mountains is unbelievable. They sacrifice their time and effort so that we can enjoy Sports OT and the awards shows that they bring us "FOR THE KIDS". I really can't believe some of the things that I am reading on here. I am going to shut up before I say something that will get me in trouble. WMT, keep up the good work!

I agree 100% also. Everyone needs to act like adults and not small children. If it was not for WYMT these high school players in the mountains would never been recognized and given the opportunity to play the next level.
