I hear that Jaggers pulled out of the process over salary.  They may be going after Lovelace at this time.  It will be over by Friday!

Heard wrong Flea Market. If he pulled out it wasn’t for salary reasons.

If you look at the pay the Trigg job  is about 5K less than what he is making now. Throw in his wife and it would be about a 8K cut. Would you pack up and move to a place that will not be a winner for at least 3 years for that big of a paycut?  the district Trigg is in really makes it hard to finish higher than third? not a very good job to take right now?

If a school wants you, there will be no pay cuts. Trigg should be able to compete with Union County year in and year out for the #2 seed.

But they don’t? Most schools pay what is on their scale. No more under the table money.

Trust me there is under the table money but those places are few and far between but the top schools have boosters who are willing to cover some expenses for a head coach.  Trigg easily is a #2 seed in that district with the right person in place but the coaching stipend is extremely low for somebody to take the job.  I do believe the head coaches there get 10 extended days on their teaching contracts which helps but only getting around $6,500 for being a head coach of a football program ain't attracting to many quality coaches unless they are desperate for a job.  I did find that Trigg has an assistant athletic director position so if they offered that title with the stipend and the extended days you may get some guys to go after it.

It is not a good situation. Jaggers is a great young coach and was the type they needed for this rebuilding phase. They will be hard pressed to find a coach this late in the game. Union has great athletes and I would say they have more going for them at this time. Several wrestling state championships?  The right person can get this program back but it will take some time and money?

Jaggers also just completed his rank one in health and PE, which does a lot for his ability to work with student athletes as far as in-school lifting/strength/conditioning goes. He's already a really qualified candidate - if you look at all he's gotten accomplished at LaRue, in particular.

Especially for a school like Trigg, when you've got a candidate like that nibbling on your hook, you need to make sure you're already using the right gear to reel him in...and sometimes that means being prepared to spend the money. You're not very likely to land a striper with the Zebco 202 your pappy gave you on your 5th birthday.

Hold on now you can't go dissing on a Zebco 202.  Caught a lot of fish on that set up!  But you are right if you are a program that has history of winning and you want to get it back then you are going to have to spend the money to make it happen.  If you are not willing to then you will continue to settle with what you have.

This used to be a good job, looks like now they will go down the road with an unproven assistant coach? It looks like they dropped the bucket on this hire. When you hook the big fish you need to get him in the boat no matter what reel you are using!!!!’
