After both of these teams, Number 1 & 2 in the state having lost their first game of the season last night; LexCath to Dunbar, and North Laurel to Ashland, the Knights took control of this one early, and never looked back. Not sure of his numbers, but unsurprisingly Ben Johnson had a big game. The kid is dynamite, and is completely worthy of Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball.

Lackluster. Clearly the loss to Ashland took the wind out of the sails for NL. While Lex. Cath. was motivated by their loss.

Bad weekend for a North Laurel team that only had one “quality” win (Cov Cath) coming into the weekend. So was Cov Cath the anomaly? Or have they now been figured out? Shepherd will get his. But if he has a bad game, who steps up?

Anyone have stats on this game?  At one time in the 3rd Johnson had 28 and Sheppard had 18. Sheppard had several turnovers during the few minutes of the 3rdQ I saw. 

Looks like a tough weekend in Lexington for NL.

That’s gonna leave a mark. 

This is a very exciting North Laurel team.

But at the end of the day, great offensive teams still have occasional droughts, whether because they simply had a bad day shooting or met up with a great defense.

Great defense is usually a constant.   LexCath has now held 13 of 20 opponents to <60 points, including quality teams like Highlands, Henry Clay, South Laurel, Covington Holy Cross, and now North Laurel.

NL will bounce back.    Would be stunned if we don't see them at Rupp.
