Brandon McClendon, MVP 2021 Hawaii Tiki Bowl

Featured Replies

Brandon McClendon, senior wide receiver from Covington Holy Cross, was the MVP of the 2021 Hawaii Tiki Bowl (played in Orlando, FL).  This set of games showcased seniors from across the country with college head coaches in charge.  Brandon had 3 receiving touchdowns and one interception.  Video of game below:

Touchdown #1 - 22:10 (end of 1st quarter)
Touchdown #2 - 43:35 (near the end of the 2nd quarter)
Touchdown #3 - 1:35:10 (beginning of the 4th quarter)
Interception - 1:55:50 (near end of the game)

Congratulations, Brandon!

Congrats to Brandon! Obviously he is a talented player. Size is probably part of the reason he doesn't have more offers. Hopefully this exposure opens up more options for him.

Congrats Brandon!

He can sure leap!  Helps on the basketball floor too!

He was one of the more underrated and under the radar players in KY.

CHC wasn't a very good team but McClendon was solid in every aspect.

Said before the season, and I'll say it again now...quite possibly the best player in the state no one knows much about because the Indians have been so down.

If you put this kid - who is a legit winner in every sense of the word - on a CovCath, Beechwood, Highlands, SK, Dixie....where he would have had an experienced, talented QB and OL, he would have been getting the type of publicity the best WR's in the state have been getting.

Really happy for this young man and hope - as noted above - this performance gets him some looks and offers he otherwise might not have received.

High class.  I watched the whole game and he was congratulating teammates on almost every play (even fist pumped another player who made a fair catch of a punt).  He seemed happy to be there.

Game was played at the site of the Citrus Bowl.  Seemed like a good atmosphere for all.  I think there were a couple of other KY players mentioned, but I couldn't find a roster anywhere.

The following names from Kentucky were listed on the roster and happened to all play on TEAM #6 aka "Laulima"

J Manley
B McClendon
C Schwartz
A Stringer

The complete roster is at https://www.hawaiitikibowl.com/teamrosters

Per a chap I have contacted at the host (Hawaii Tiki Bowl) the stats to the games will be released when they finish compiling at ...

Jordan Manley - QB - George Rogers Clark
Adrian Stringer - QB - Hopkins County Central

This is a guess - "C Schwartz" may be Cooper Schwartz (OL) from Fleming County, but I'm not 100% sure.

How does one get selected to play in this game?
