Hope they let them play soon, but think they will at least make them wait until Jan 4 and then may let them play 2 weeks after that?  But I don't know really.

Just in: WDRB news reports JCPS looking to return to school in mid February. Not sure what impact will be on sports, but I will tune into the meeting to find out.

So far sounds like no decision on playing until 1/5 meeting at earliest but will depend on vaccine and/or cases per 100,000 (red county).

They are lamenting KHSAA decision and compliment the two no votes by Wyman and Miller who are on KHSAA board.

Dr. Pollio says all options on table and 1/5 meeting hopefully have some more clarity.

Athletics discussion over so tune in 1/5 meeting to find out more. In my opinion, earliest they will start is mid January. They mentioned that only have to play district games to qualify for tournament. 

I feel sorry for school aged children in Jefferson County Kentucky. 

St.X’s first 3 games only one is public school. Play Collegiate, Male, and Trinity. Supposed to play Ballard on 1/22 so hopefully they are playing by then.

The majority obviously doesn't rule.

JCPS doesn't like the rules, so they go rouge and make their own.  Fayette County doesn't like the rules and they make their own.  Each school district is its own fifedom.

Then because these are the two largest school districts in the state they are going to impact and influence what the rest of us do.  Why even have the KHSAA or have Board of Control meetings?  School districts who don't like the decisions simply take their ball and go home.  At this rate none of us are going to get anything done.

Seriously....had to insert a little levity....the school systems have always had this power.  KHSAA doesn't make anyone play, except for games required to determine tournament seeding.   Of course, rarely do the systems have any cause to consider cancelling / postponing / re-scheduling games like they do now.

And I think reasonable people can disagree on this one.

But I feel your pain.

The unfortunate thing is that many schools have had to juggle their schedules as a result, particularly schools in the counties surrounding counties like Jefferson and Fayette that make these decisions.

Even within the private schools, there are unique "rules"....my understanding is that Collegiate, a private school in Jefferson County, has told potential opponents that if they want to play Collegiate, their players will have to play wearing masks.   Now - I got that second-hand, but from a varsity high school coach whose team was given this information from Collegiate.

The individual systems will make the decisions they feel are best for their kids.

JCPS can blame KHSAA for putting them in this position, or they can also look at Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee and other states that are playing and determine where the blame should really fall!

For the most part all of the football districts fell in line, accepted the rules as they were drawn up, adhered to the timelines, and did the best they could to play out their seasons.  While it was cumbersome and inconvenient we all pulled together and made it work.  I don't see that happening here.

Everybody marching to the beat of different drummers is not the answer to having a successful winter sports season.
