NobizLikeShowbiz
First of all how good of a coach is he?!?! First Campbellsvile, then EKU, now it seems Umass is heading in the right direction. I always thought Billy Donovan would be U.K.'s guy after Tubby, could it be Travis?!?!??! 00Rocket28
that'd be sweet if he was the coach at UK, I don't think there's any doubt he would take the job in a minute! I think he'd be a better recruiter than Tubs
SomersetFootball
UMass seems like a good fit for Ford right now. Let him try to rebuild the minutemen program. I think he can!

bugatti
I know a lot of Kentuckians want Ford to jump right in, but just be patient and do not get too gaga over a win in Freedom Hall or winnning the OVC one season. Ford is still relatively unproven... although, I do see a bright future and potential return to Lexington if he continues to rise in status. UnderPar
I hate to disagree with everyone but I don't think he will ever be the head coach at UK. I just don't want to take that chance!
hardball
Didn't Ford have some trouble at Campbellsville? For some reason, and no, I can't explain it, Ford seems like the type of coach that might land a team in some NCAA hot water. Just a gut feeling... HOPKINSVILLE TIGER
Why is it that each time a former Kentucky player who is coaching has a little success our so-called fans start blabbing about the guy being the next UK coach? None of these guys have won anything significant so why do we do this to ourselves? Most guys from Kentucky know about the ridiculous expectations that would be placed upon them and would not dare say "YES" to coach our team. The very fans that talk about how great it would be to get one of the 'ole Kentucky guys would be starting a new thread the day after the guy loses two games in a row or fail to win a National Championship his first year titled "FIRE THE COACH"! Tubby will be okay and his young team will only get better. If we didn't place those unrealistic standards or expectations on the program or the coach we would see that Tubby isn't that bad. Someone said in another thread that in the future we will have a hard time filling the coaching position because of the expectations! We don't have losing seasons and we don't go to the NIT year in and out and every now and then we will win the big one but you can't expect any coach to win the National Championship every year and with the NBA restrictions there is too much parity in college ball for any one team to dominate year in and out. Joe B. Hall didn't win many big ones and he is idolized at UK for some reason! Let the coach do his thing and I'm sure you guys will be proud of our team in the long run. Don't worry about who's ranked ahead of us now, I like our chances in March! The last time we won it all we were not extremely talented or ranked so all it takes is a run at the right time! ladiesbballcoach
Or is he more like a Steve Alford and IU. Meteoric rise and labeled as the IU Savior then flamed out and struggling to keep his job at Iowa.

That was a pretty talented UK team IMO! As far as Ford at CU, I think there was something that went on there, dont remember what it was, but IMO he wouldnt cause any trouble with UK, he has great respect for the program. HOPKINSVILLE TIGER
I am not saying the team was not talented at all, you have to have talent to win the big dance but, no one picked UK to win it all that year! The moral of the story is, if you are a UK fan let's give our team some time to mature and get used to one another and by mid season the team will be as good as any team in the country. They have shown us that they can compete and have the talent to go forth and win big games but, if they lose our support we are screwed! Give our team a chance and don't fire the coach after every loss, when we don't blow out a weaker team by 60, when we lose a recruit that the FANS wanted us to land, when we don't recruit one of your players from your school, you don't like the new uniforms, the music at midnight madness was not of you liking, etc...... I am just not that impressed with him at all for some reason. Just bc he was a very good and popular player at U.K. does not mean he is coaching material. I do think that he would make a good assistant at U.K. but that might be step down for him now.

Sure they have shown that they can compete, but what is UK's quality win so far this year...IU? Come NCAA tournament time, the committee is not going to say well they played UCLA and UNC tough at the beginging of the year. And I never said anything about firing Tubby, I just started this thread to see what people thought of Travis. Tubby is not going to be the coach at UK FOREVER, does that mean I think he should be fired this year??? NO! Travis still has alot ot prove, he is young, I just think he would do good at UK if given the opportunity and wanted to here what others thought. But now you turned this thread into me bashing Tubby, when I wasnt trying too.
