The Scott County Cardinals are sitting at a very quiet 6-0.They seem to be flying under the radar is this 2020 season with teams like Frederick Douglass, Covington Catholic, Bowling Green, South Warren, and Owensboro. What does the Cardinals got to do to get some respect? Do they need to play Frederick Douglass tough? Beat them?
What’s your opinion and are they being snubbed in the 5A rankings?

As far as rankings go, Scott County is stuck in no man's land because of their schedule. Their talent pool and recent success will keep them above the Southwesterns and North Bullitts of the world, but the schedule hasn't afforded them an opportunity to say "hey, we should be higher than #insert ranking here". That'll change, starting this weekend.

I think they are right were they should be I do also think they are better than everyone ranked below them plus I think all 5 teams in the BGP poll ranked ahead of them are better than them. They are 6-0 but of their 6 wins only Bryan Station has a winning record. The other 5 teams they have played have a combined 8-18 record.

I guess they are not playing FD in the regular season so that would have been a good tell on how good they might be. Doesn't matter too much since FD/ SC will more than likely meet in 2nd round of playoffs. I think FD wins that one.

They are scheduled to play next week Oct. 30 at Scott Co.

Cool. I didn't know if that was on our not. I went on to the KHSAA site to look at schedules and didn't see it for that week  but I guess KHSAA never updated the schedules with all the craziness of cancelations.

Scott Co is # 2 in RPI so if they beat FD next week then I imagine they still be ranked high. RPI is what matters.

Yea I saw it on Scott Co. schedule on KHSAA. Douglass cancelled their game with Lexington Catholic to play this one. I really don't see how Scott Co. plays at Ballard this Friday since Jefferson is in the Red that is why Scott Co. cancelled their game last month with Douglass they said.

Guess we’ll see if other motives could have played into cancelling FD game, if they play this Friday.

Not to nitpick, but schools update schedules on the KHSAA website. If a game isn’t showing on the schedule the blame goes to the coach, athletic director, or whoever is responsible for posting to the KHSAA site. Same with rosters, spelling, etc.

I see that on KHSAA/Riherds has updated schedules. At first I went into KHSAA and clicked on a link that said composite schedules which I guess do not have the updates. Either/or we are good.

Truth be told, Scott County may be getting a tad bit undervalued.

I think their 7-6 win over Bryan Station at the time looked like a "Bad" win, but it is clear Bryan Station is actually a quality team. The 28-18 Ryle win also made some folks grimace, but with what Ryle did the two weeks following that isn't as underwhelming of a performance as it seemed at the time.

None of this changes that they are probably ranked exactly where they should be, but definitely think the Cardinals are more of factor in the 5A race than the first impression of their schedule and results may suggest.

I am 100% guilty of this. I remember seeing that score post on the first night and thinking this must be a down year at Scott County. Bryan Station has proven themselves very solid, which makes Scott County look better, too. As a previous posted said, however, the fact that we haven't see them play Frederick Douglass has probably left many with a "wait and see" approach to Scott County, which now might not be answered until the playoffs.
