#5 St. Xavier (1-2) will travel to Butler (1-2). St. Xavier is coming off a 28-7 win over 3A #1 DeSales. Butler is coming off a 50-24 loss to Pleasure Ridge Park. Butler has given up 50 or more points the last two games and in rebuilding mode. St. Xavier had several injuries last week in QB Giles Pooler, WR Michael Duddy, S Braden Wilson, and LB Kurtis Cotten. As of now (10/11) uncertain their status for this game. Will St. X impose a running clock? Can Butler pull the upset?

last year's meetings:

St. X 42-6 (Regular season)

St. X 28-8 ( 6A Playoffs)

This is not a vintage STX squad but it should be good enough to handle the struggling Bears. For STX this game comes at the perfect time.  It will enable STX to rest their injured players before their upcoming games against PRP & hopefully Manual. It will also give Sivori and their younger players valuable varsity game experience. Running clock, StX 45-6

I like X BIG in this game.  Any word on if/when the Manual game might be rescheduled since its a district game?

I was told that St.X offered to drop Frederick Douglass to play Manual that date and Manual didn’t want to. I assume they figure would be meeting in playoffs two weeks later so I don’t blame them.

So if both Manual & STX win out and their district game is not made up, how is it determined who gets the #1 seed in their district?

Manual missing two district games so as long as St.X beats Butler and PRP should be #1 seed since they go off win %.

The 2020 KHSAA policy will give Manual the district title by just beating Butler.  Manual has no incentive to make the games up due to the RPI being higher than PRP and St. X.  The new policy says that if the games can not be made up, the RPI will determine the winner.  That is why Manual does not want to play on Nov 6 even though St. X has offered to cancel a game to play.  Manual cancels those games, refuses to make them up, still gets rewarded with home field for the initial two rounds.  There simply is nothing right about that.

Looks like would have to win rest of games and Manual lose to Male to have chance to move ahead of them in RPI.

St. X radio says several inside Linebackers out for St.X due to Covid exposure at school. Fortunately Kurtis Cotten playing. Look for freshman Eli Monks to play. St.X defense coordinator out also. Butler also missing some players. St.X QB due to injury last week game time decision. WR Michael Duddy out after injury last week and may return next week. S Brayden Wilson out tonight and LB Luke Saner out for season.
