Newport Central Catholic sits at 3-0 on the season. Ludlow sits at 1-3 on the season. Newport Central Catholic is also coming off a bye week before this matchup. Who wins this matchup? Does Newport Central Catholic move to 4-0 on the season? Does Ludlow pull the upset?

New Cath’s defense has held opponents to an Average of 9 points a game. I think they  keep Newborn & Ludlow in check and get the win.

New Cath's defense has been pretty tight thus far this season, but I still feel like the offense is still a little shakey on its legs - especially when it comes to their passing game. They rolled over Holy Cross in Week 2, but just realistically speaking, Holy Cross is not good this year. When they had stiffer competition in Week 1 and Week 3, you ended up seeing things like 13 total passing yards for New Cath against Walton-Verona...and then 28 total passing yards against Newport. No doubt Coach Lickert has been working to fight that with their week off.

At this point with what seems like an athletic group of kids and a somewhat weak passing game, I would think they would want to embrace their strength and run the ball as much as possible and limit their passing game to under 10 throws per game.

New Cath is not the passing team they were last year and won't try to be this year at all. They will run the ball play good D and put in some timely passes here and there. They'll win their share of games this year and are the best single A team in NKY this year. They are a year or two away from challenging for a state title again. The freshman class this year and kids coming in next year have some really good athletes in them. The offense took a hit loosing Akerson leaving Runyan to carry the load. Hopefully someone else can step in and help carry the load this year.

Also will be streamed on Ludlow HS Facebook page.

What happened to Ackerson?

Ludlow has the ball to start the game.

NCC with a big gain on a pass into Ludlow territory.

TD NewCath!

Long pass, nice catch, and fought the defender into the end zone.

NCC 7 Ludlow 0
