Joe Burrow 1st game expectations

Featured Replies

What does a "Good" first game from Joe look like?

50% completion rate?

At least 1 TD pass?

250 yards?

A win, regardless of the stats?

Just come out injury free?

For what it is worth, I think he goes around 17-30 260 yards 1TD 2 Int 3 Sacks.

Any reports as to how he is doing in camp?

The rules are so slanted towards the offense these days it would not shock me to see him put up some solid numbers.

It's hard to give a passing grade on just pure numbers, with no context.  Did he find the open receiver?  Did he put it where it could be caught?  Did the guy catch it?  If they dink and dunk their way down the field and Mixon scores 4 TD's...who's to say that's not successful?

I think a lot of it is going to be situational.  Both in how the offensive line holds up against the Chargers pass rush, and in how Taylor calls the game.  Both of those can make a QB look bad, even if he is doing "good".

Reposts our of camp have all been positive, and that is as good as advertised in every way.

He is going to for sure have his fair share of rookie mistakes through at times this year.

Can Joe teach Bobby Hart how to pass block?

FWIW I think Joe had an excellent first game. Not looking at the stats just at the way his game developed from the beginning to the end. Of course the Bengals lost in the most Bengals way ever, but Joe drove them down and put them in a chance to take it to OT. That's exactly what he needed to do.

I am definitely not a Bengals homer, but I will say that the young Mr. Burrow impressed me in his first start.

Imagine how much better he would have been if he played his entire career at LSU...?
