They released a surveillance video from his property during the incident. It shows him with a pair of tongs in his hand as he's tending to his grill.

I just watched the video. In my opinion it does not prove that he fired at police, at the same time his hand motions make it appear that it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could be taking a shot. I think the video is inconclusive.

One thing is clear. If the police had their body cameras turned on, we would have a much better idea of what actually happened.

He’s just beginning to move at that point. There’s no point where you see the gun in his hand beyond the post in the foreground. He could have easily dropped it.
