Movie Hot Takes

I would say 7

2000 - Gladiator

2001 - A Beautiful Mind

2003 - Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

2004 - Million Dollar Baby

2005 - Crash

2006 - The Departed

2007 - No Country for Old Men

Everything since was mediocre at best.

Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and Spotlight (2015) were mediocre? I thought those movies were great.

Not to be the hot take police, but all we are doing so far is listing movies we didn't think were very good or not as good as advertised. That's not a hot take. Heck, most people have not seen 75% of movies recognized at the Academy Awards.

Here is one. Last 20 years or so Robert De Niro is a below average actor. Meet the Parents and Analyze This were the last two movies he was good. After that, easily replaceable.

And he’s still making better movies than Pacino, who is a caricature of himself at this point.

The Intern and The Family were both good.

I've never gotten all the hype around Ben Stiller or Will Ferrell. I've liked a couple movies they were both in, but it was despite their performance for the most part. How the Meet the Parents franchise got more than one movie is a puzzle.

The meet the parents franchise is great. Will Ferrell in Anchorman is untouchable.

Meet the Parents was one of Stiller's better movies, I thought. I feel like they try to hard to be funny, thus making them not that funny to me.

I'll make a hot take. Anchorman is awful.

I hate to say it MJ, but I think this is where our friendship is. I'm going to have to put you on my block list for having such a horrendous take.

Ben Stiller's best movie is Heavyweights.

Love Heavyweights but probably for nostalgia reasons. Actually just watched that again a couple of weeks ago.

Haha sorry man. I just don't find that movie even remotely funny. I know I'm in the minority.
