RHCS's official stats:

Queen: 18 pts on 7/15 shooting (0/3 3ptrs), 10 rebs, 4/5 free throws, 3 stls, 5 turnovers

Terry: 22 pts on 7/11 shooting (2/2 3ptrs), 9 rebs, 6/9 free throws, 7 blks, 6 stls, 5 turnovers

Faulkner: 17 pts on 5/16 shooting (0/3 3ptrs), 7 rebs, 7/12 free throws, 5 assts, 3 turnovers

Leah Terry: 4 pts, 2 rebs

Rose Hill cannot win with Queen, Terry, and/or Faulkner in foul trouble. Two fouled out but I assume that all three were in foul trouble much of the game.

Possibly someone should have introduced a proposal to make girls's basketball three-on-three. I would have liked our chances.

I think there is something misleading about these stats, but I need some help to tell me if I am correct.

Normally, seeing 5 turnovers from two six footers (Queen and Terry) would be a pretty ugly number. In this instance, though, I believe they are the result of these two players' handling the ball far more than the average six footer would in high school.

Is that correct?

Absolutely correct.

Absolutely correct.

Well, if Queen and Terry are being asked to handle the ball to a significant degree, then 5 turnovers in a game as a sixfooter is actually a pretty good stat.

After last year's run, RH has the giant Bullseye on their chests. Everyone they play most likely has the RH game circled. W/ only 3 girls putting up all but 4 points, the RH supporting cast members have got to step up for them to have a chance at making it out of the region this year.

Even as a Rose Hill homer, this post made me chuckle!

And from another Rose Hill homer, I will say that Royal Uncle's post is absolutely true.

And I'll rebut with this, look at the supporting cast. The majority of them aren't old enough to have their adult teeth. I'd also be curious how many shots that were taken by anyone other than the big 3. I'm not at all knocking those three players in any fashion. But IMO, if they cannot avoid foul trouble, they are headed for a long season without as much success as once hoped for. Silly fouls had better become a thing of the past, or this type result will be commonplace. Without those three in the game for the majority of the time each and every game, RH will struggle. Hard to ask kids who have not had the opportunity to "contribute" to suddenly do so. I for one hope that someone will emerge as a contributor. I just don't know how!

Nothing against Rose Hill, but I really feel like they are going to have a tough time replacing their point guard from last season. She's the one that made everything happen.

I agree, no one in the region IMO could do the things that Louisville's Kala Faulkner could do. However, her sister can fill in nicely on both ends of the floor, but can't do so from the seat next to Pam.

Kala Faulkner was the best player on Rose Hills team last year.

Best player?? Maybe?? But. in the words of Rick Pitino, she definitely "stirred the drink..."
