December 8, 200619 yr Lance McAlister's blog points out that the Bengals under Marvin Lewis has not had a strong finishing record. '03 (1-3) '04 (2-2) '05 (2-2) Why do you think the Bengals don't finish strong? And will they change that this season? While I think they will go 3-1 and claim the WC spot, they easily could go 1-3 and have another poor finish.

They don't play the Bills, so all is well. 3-1 finish in 04 and 05 if they beat a team they should have beat both times. And that's what it comes down to. You know how much it would make this season taste a little sweeter to the Steelers and their fans if they knocked out the Bengals.

It seems to be a growing characteristic of a Marvin Lewis team to lose to a team that should not down the stretch run. Why?
December 8, 200619 yr You are missing the topic though. It seems to be a growing characteristic of a Marvin Lewis team to lose to a team that should not down the stretch run. Why? Why don't we hear your thoughts on the topic???
December 8, 200619 yr Author Why don't we hear your thoughts on the topic??? Honestly, not sure. My first instinct would be to say the lack of a good defense. Defense is what wins championship games and down a stretch run is a championship run. Also, I wonder if the character issue would come into play. Professionals are alwasy ready to play against any level of talent. Others overlook opponents they believe are beneath them. The Bengals have shown this past year that the character of some are lacking. Yet most of those are younger athletes who were not there the first two years.

December 8, 200619 yr Author And yet you still went there. 100% what I expected... You mean you expected my main point of lack of defense instead of the last sentence I typed?
December 8, 200619 yr You mean you expected my main point of lack of defense instead of the last sentence I typed? No. I expected you to bring up character issues, and you did right on cue. Even though you know it was not an issue in 03 or 04, there it is. With the problem players they have gone 11-5 and now sit at 7-6 and lead the wild card with an amazing rash of injuries that should have sent them into the abyss. When a franchise goes from 15 years in the gutter to fighting for the title overnight you have to expect them to take their lumps from time to time. Did Willie know what December football was really like in 03? No chance. And he's the unquestioned leader of the team. Like I said, you are joining Lance in a LONG stretch for something to talk about. Maybe you could examine why the Bills are such a match up problem for the Bengals since the last two December home loses were at their hands...
December 8, 200619 yr Last year I think they kinda mailed it in a little since they had the division and a playoff spot wrapped up. @ KC we didnt play all of our starters and for Buffalo? We'll I still cant figure that out they just seem to have our number for some odd reason.

Or is that a Freudian slip:scared:
