Mason beat Clark and gave the Bourbon game away and lost in Overtime.

Congratulations to the Royals. I hear our place is tough to come into and get a win, yet they were able to do just that on this occasion, which was our Senior Night.

 

The Royals moved the ball extremely well which led to early baskets, giving the Royals a first quarter 17-10 lead, that expanded to 36-24 by halftime. Xaylon Frey the normal Royals' second leading scorer put up 16 points in the first half in the absence of big man Alex Schlach. Braden May knocked home two 3-pointers for good measure.

 

The Mustangs attempted to stem the tide and cut into the Royals lead, outscoring them 16-12 to make it a more manageable 48-40 with eight minutes left to play.

 

The Mustangs would get it to four points at 62-58 at the 1:25 mark of the fourth quarter, but whenever the Royals needed a big basket they would get one, and survived the Stangs rally to win 69-62.

 

The Mustangs uncharacteristically were 15 of 31 from the free-throw line, while the Royals somewhat uncharacteristically knocked down six three-point goals.

 

Brossart Senior forward Ethan Eilerman led all scorers and moved into 7th place among all-time Brossart scorers with 28 points. Carson Schirmer added 14, David Govan 10, and Stephen Verst 9.

 

Xylon Frey was terriffic scoring 24 points, as Braden May (3-3s) and Carson Brammer added 13 points apiece.

 

Brossart falls to 22-5, while the Royals improve to 16-10 on the season.

The Mustangs finish the regular season at Bellevue Thursday, while the Royals have Rowan County left on their regular season dance card.
