The Professor Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Has anyone seen this movie? They have advertised the heck out of it, popping up all over my Facebook page. I hear it’s getting great reviews and won a Golden Globe. I’m going to be in Richmond Monday and I’m either going to watch 1917 or Star Wars.
MJAlltheWay24 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 My wife and I went on Saturday and maybe I just had really high expectations because the previews looked so good, but I left the theater disappointed. I personally don't think it lived up to the hype and I wouldn't put it high on my war movie list. I just felt like there wasn't really a whole lot to the story. Not much action over all. Just didn't do it for me. Curious what others think.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 They have $5.75 Tuesdays at one of the movie theaters here in Louisville, and I'm planning on checking it out either tomorrow night or next Tuesday.

neilman1234 Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 I saw it on opening night and regardless of what your expectations are for the plot, the cinematography is second to none. The camera angles really give you a first hand idea of the scale of the bunkers, battle grounds, etc. This alone is worth the price of admission.

I guess for me, that type of stuff isn't something that really moves me in a movie.
Jumper_Dad Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 I never got caught up in the hype or even paid much attention to the trailers and ads. Wife and I went this afternoon and really enjoyed it. If constant action is your thing, then this isn't it. This movie however, never really gets bogged down and keeps moving. I liked the story.
