After watching the Varsity play tonight.....you answer that for me. I havent seen him play, only read about him and know he was MVP of 8th grade State tourney so he obviously can play with bigger kids.

BTW- who else in the school can run the point outside of Nic Simpson, McGraw and Josh conner? Enlighten me because I am unfamiliar with the current 10th graders..... You can never have enough ballhandlers on your bench. Atleast that is my theory.

Last night's JV/Frosh outing was a barnburner versus Newport, who was led by Frosh "phenom" Ark Brewer. HHS jumps out to a 10-0 lead and proceeds to put the game on auto-pilot. Sloppy play, sloppy coaching and extremely sloppy and inconsistent effort from the refs. HHS plays its entire bench throughout the game...giving Newport a chance to stay close. Game was 6 pt in favor of HHS for 80% of the game...then unforced errors & poor shots let NHS scrap back. Offense for NHS was Ark "one on one" and # 40 stroking threes...nothing else. HHS looked fabulous at times in transition (Eric Kyle, Mitch Fair, Jake Turner with beautiful passes) and then would turn around and look look like grade school team at the St. Mary barn ( blow easy layups)! Haven't seen that much travelling called ever...yet the muggings continue around the basket. New "assistant" coach for Newport did a good job after the "head" coach got his 2nd T...(he didn't get his money's worth either!). Hi-lites for HHS were 2 good performances by Frosh Tyler Grubbs and Steven Kowolonek..."Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside". chalk this sub-par performance to opening night jitters.....hopefully!

Really...that is interesting. So last night was a Frosh game/JV Game doubleheader? Or were there Freshman playing up with the JV?

Like I said, I am only going off of what I know from last season.

Sorry...HHS won by one 47-46 (score may not be exact). NHS tied the game in the last minute. HHS made 1 of 2 free throws (actually 2 of 2 but a Bird was called for being in the lane early...claims he was pushed...or so that's what he told his Dad!). NHS gets fouled on deep inbounds pass, makes first throw...misses second, gets rebound misses game winner from deep. Birds lucky!

Just my "wise-acre" adjective...JV caried up 4 Frosh: Kowolonek, Grubbs, Corey Dill, & #13 Herald (?)

That is strange.. I would have thought they'd have enough Sophs to field a JV team. Kowolonek sounds like he has stepped up his game even more... what about the Frosh team though. Who are the starting five for the Birds. I would assume the 4 guys mentioned above.... Grote? Lother?

Josh Conner decided on strictly football...that hurt.....Guidugli did too! They cut some "project" sophs...I reckon' to season the class below. Once again, the Soph class @ HHS is Rodney Dangerfield...they get "no respect".

Is Arkansas playing freshmen?

He played substantial minutes in the varsity game tonight against Highlands.

Kowolonek plays the entire 4th quarter scoring 5. Kids a player. Will get serious varsity consideration next player. BTW doesn't play football:creepy:

Has a "serious stroke" from the 3-line!!...he could be Willie's "Simpson"...if ya' follow me! Surround him with some FB size and ya' gots yourself a team!!

Wise had 8...Stein in double figures...Simons not in the box score???? Wuz' up wit dat??

I wasnt there but this could be the payback for not coming out last year....that would really stink. I can relate as I sat out football my jr yr in high school to focus on b-ball...decided to play F-ball again my Sr. year and coach didnt start me until the 3rd game. Just a little message i think. Or, maybe he played and just didnt hit the box score.

When the game is out of hand, anybody in the game at that point is trying to get their name in the paper. :jump:
