Ashland has been near the top of 3A all season. Last week, the ran over 1A power Raceland only adding more to an impressive resume. East Carter turned some heads in their own right. East Carter traveled to WV A #3 Tolsia and proceeded to give them a thrashing, winning 43-6. East Carter is much improved and looking to make some noise. Who wins?

East is having a good year and as much as I'd like to see them play with the Ashland's and Russell's I don't think they are no where near that. I hope I'm wrong but just don't see it yet. Prove me wrong Raiders but I think they will do good not to have a running clock put on them.

I'd like to see East win this one but Ashland will be too much.

East Carter has come a long way under Champlin, but I'm afraid Ashland is still well beyond their reach. If they couldn't contain Cline against West Carter, it makes sense that Hester and Pittman will run wild on Friday.

I feel the same way. No disrespect to the East Carter program, they have taken giant steps forward the past few years. Cline is a really good player but he's not Hester nor Pittman, nor does he have the oline in front of him that the Ashland backs have.

 

Regardless of the outcome the East Carter fans should be really happy with where their program is right now as well as the direction its headed. But playing in the toughest district in 3A will make district wins hard to come by, for the time being.

One of the best games of the season is going to be Ashland vs Russell. The game has already been hyped pretty well. There’s even a clever t-shirt campaign under way on social media. All eyes will be focused on that game next week. And if Ashland is looking past East Carter, this week, that could play into favor of the Raiders.

It will be an uphill battle for a much improved East Carter team. But, a distracted Tomcats team, as well as home field advantage, and homecoming night for the Raiders, could be the recipe for an upset in the making. Call me the eternal optimist. We’re all about to find out in a couple hours.
