Porch Pirates

Featured Replies

Have any of you ever been a victim of porch pirates? I order once a week from Wal-Mart.com and Amazon.com. I always have the packages left at the front door and in many cases I don't retrieve them until the next morning. Last night someone stole an order i had placed with Amazon. The order contained $90 worth of Quest Protein bars and cookies. I guess it will be protein powder and oatmeal for me until I can get another order in.

No, but I have a Ring security system. I have cameras that cover all of my property, including the doorbell camera.

I have stuff arriving almost daily, and haven’t lost anything yet. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

My security system was asleep in the house and didn't bark.

Luckilly at my apartment, they have a system where all packages are delivered into a locker and you are emailed the code to get into the locker. Much better than when UPS/FedEx just left pacakges at the door.

I haven't been a victim but my neighbors Nest caught a delivery being chucked from the street to my porch.

It’s becoming more common. What people will do sometimes baffles me.

I live in a really rural area and get lots of packages. I’ve had one taken. I left it outside too many days (it was a chemical for cleaning siding, so I didn’t want/need it in the house.)

We had an experience a couple of months ago in my neighborhood where a group of teenagers followed an Amazon delivery truck to our street and grabbed every package as they were dropped off. Apparently they got upwards of 18 packages. Most of the houses in my neighborhood only have stoops instead of any kind of porch with a railing or anything, so it's 100% obvious if a package has been delivered. Fortunately in that instance a cop managed go catch the 4 teens that grabbed all the packages - we hadn't had anything delivered that day.
