May 31, 20197 yr Warriors and Raptors tipped off tonight with the Raptors getting a comfortable win in the end. Most of the talking heads on the pre-game picked the Raptors to win the series. KD didn't play and looks to be out at least one more game if not more. Boogie did run with the 2nd team tonight, his first minutes in months.
May 31, 20197 yr Figured the Raptors would win Game 1. It’s pretty funny to see folks on social media claiming the series for the Raptors after one game.
May 31, 20197 yr Warriors got 18 combined points from three of their starters, and Siakam went for double his average last night. We’ll see if that trend continues.
May 31, 20197 yr Warriors got 18 combined points from three of their starters, and Siakam went for double his average last night. We’ll see if that trend continues. Klay and Steph will get theirs, and Draymond will be his normal driving factor, but with Durant out and Iggy hobbled, the Warriors are relying upon average role players to carry a sizable burden.
May 31, 20197 yr Klay and Steph will get theirs, and Draymond will be his normal driving factor, but with Durant out and Iggy hobbled, the Warriors are relying upon less than average role players to carry a sizable burden. It worked against the Rockets. I believe the Rockets are better than the Raptors.
May 31, 20197 yr The rust had to hurt the Warriors last night. Taking nine days off is not normal. Lowry and Leonard had poor games last night. I presume they will come back to being their normal selves next game. I can't wait for game two.
May 31, 20197 yr It worked against the Rockets. I believe the Rockets are better than the Raptors. Maybe. But if going into a big game, there is no way I want Houston and Harden's weak mentality or CP0 in my foxhole. Never trust Houston. People forget how much playoff experience Toronto has on their roster. It is a collection of dudes that have been around.
May 31, 20197 yr It’s definitely one of the more fun finals to watch since the Raptors are in it for the first time – Drake and the overall hype just adds to the festivities. I hope it goes to 7 games.

People forget how much playoff experience Toronto has on their roster. It is a collection of dudes that have been around. I agree about not trusting Houston. But Toronto still doesn't have any more playoff experience, and certainly not as much talent.
May 31, 20197 yr Toronto did what I felt other teams should have done more of against the Warriors - push the ball in transition. The Warriors previous opponents all wanted to walk the ball up the court, burn the shot clock and reduce the number of possessions. That played right into the Warriors hands especially in the 4th quarters. Last night Toronto looked for every hint of an opportunity to push the ball in transition. The other thing that was really impressive last night about Toronto was their defense. The Warriors were getting no easy shots. People forget Marc Gasol is a former defensive player of the year. Kahwi is a great defensive player. Also, Curry is a defensive liability and the Raptors seized every opportunity to use mis matches against Curry. This is a series and with no KD I think the Raptors will win.
May 31, 20197 yr If reports of KD returning next week come to be true, Game 2 is a must win for Toronto.
May 31, 20197 yr I agree about not trusting Houston. But Toronto still doesn't have any more playoff experience, and certainly not as much talent. Obviously not more than the core of the Warriors, but let's take a look at the Raptors top players: Marc Gasol: 78 games Danny Green: 119 games (3 finals, held record for most three pointers in a finals until Steph) Kawahi Leonard: 106 games (3 Finals, 1 Finals MVP) Pascal Siakam: 31 games Kyle Lowry: 81 games Serge Ibaka: 128 games (1 finals) For Golden State - without Durant - you will have the core guys that have been there through the last four seasons (Steph, Klay, Draymond, a hobbled Iggy, and what's left of Livingston), but after that you have Jordan Bell, Alfonzo McKennie, Swedish Larry Bird, and Kevon Looney.

This is a series and with no KD I think the Raptors will win. Toronto is a really long and tenacious defensive team. Their top six players are elite level defenders.

So they virtually have the same amount of experience. :lol2: If any team has to rely heavily on anybody other than their "main guys," it's less than ideal, obviously. But if everyone on both teams plays their best, the Warriors are better by a wide margin, IMO.
May 31, 20197 yr Every time the Warriors were about to climb back in it last night, Toronto managed a big shot. That's normally something the Warriors can withstand and I don't think Game 2 will play out the same way. I can think specifically to that preposterous sideways three that VanVleet (maybe?) hit as the shot clock expired in the final minutes that took a 5-point game back out to 8 points. I will say that as someone who hasn't watched a ton of Toronto through these playoffs, Siakam was a revelation. Loved watching that dude play.
