College football is dominated by a few elites at the top and the smart elites know you don't schedule non-conference teams that can beat you.

 

With all that said, I am glad to see Kentucky is learning from the cool kids.

Again; this is because almost everyone else gets the SOS boost by playing Alabama. This is just another example of the bandwagon foolishness that Bama has to deal with.

SOS as a whole is a bit overrated as a measurement. Nonconference SOS is infinitely more important because it can be controlled. With that said, Tennessee should be absolutely appalled by their garbage OOC games. You have FOUR OOC games and you can’t schedule 1 power 5 program? Not one? Good lord what an atrocity.

Alabama usually opens with a strong out of conference opponent, but this year it's just Duke. USC will be on their schedule next season as they get back to playing marquee games to begin the season.

If you’re referring to Ohio States OOC this year, I believe I have discussed ad nauseum about TCU cancelling the return trip to Columbus this year. OSU scheduled that TCU home and home right after the year Ohio State jumped TCU in the final rankings. Spare me the talk about OSU schedule. It sucks. We all know it sucks. But OSU was left standing at the altar thanks to TCU.

Not defending Tennessee, but they do play #2, #4 and #8 preseason ranked teams...anyone else in the country play 3 top 8 teams this year?

That said, BYU is decent but the rest of OOC is trash.
