Let’s imagine for a second Harden was playing against air and he replicated the same shooting form he does on about half of his three point attempts when guarded. He would fall on his back most of the time or his arms would come straight out in front of him. It isn’t natural. The outcry comes because he was rewarded for his shenanigans during the regular season. Harden drew 95 fouls on three point attempts during the regular season. The next closest was at 34. That ain’t right.

I remember watching CVH in the 9th Region Tournament throw his head back each time there was contact while driving to the basket and realizing the impact the NBA has on kids for the first time.

 

Let's give credit where credit is due. I don't think that CVH head snap was learned watching the NBA. I'm pretty sure he picked it up from teammate Nick Ruthsatz. Nick Ruthsatz was a living bobblehead when being pressured while dribbling. He probably had a headache after every game from all his head snaps during games drawing fouls. He got a lot of calls doing the dramatic head snap.

I'd like to see the league look at flops and head snaps from no contact and place some sort of punitive deterrent in place.

 

I'm not saying stop the game and review them, just look after the fact and call them out.

 

I would like to see in-game technicals called when a ref either live or during a replay see a blatant flop.

This should be interesting tonight. Scott Foster is one of the officials tonight. The Rockets HATE him. They have lost the last 6 games Foster has officiated and Harden said in February that he should not be allowed to officiate any more of their games.

I agree. Until flops are penalized and actually enforced, it will only get worse.

As much as you may hate it I see it as them perfecting their craft. Is it what you want to teach young players? No. 99.9% of them won’t play college or sniff the pros. But don’t you take advantage of what you can to better yourself in your profession?

Ditto, here. I think they need to come up with some sort of equivalent to the NFL's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I'd have to think a little bit more about whether it should be a full-blown technical or just a common foul, though.
