April 24, 20197 yr If I wasn't there working, I'd have thought the Reds probably lost 6-2 tonight based on this discussion here. Shame how many Reds fans that used to post in these frequently have been ran off.
April 24, 20197 yr Puig was pumped for Barnhart's HR tonight. Jumped out the dugout to forearm bump him or whatever they do. Hopefully his enthusiasm for this team can be contagious.
April 24, 20197 yr Author Schebler is now 3-3 again, 3 AB, 3 strikeouts Winker having another good game in the field, loafed after a double and turned it into a triple, now he just turned a routine fly ball int a double, he and Gray might have a talk after this inning. Suarez with another boot, our D is AWFUL!! I'll agree with the bolded. Schebler has been awful. He has no business starting while Ervin is up, none. Especially where Bell consistently decides to hit him. He comes up in big situations and pitchers literally throw fastballs by him. They have no fear of him whatsoever and that makes things more difficult for those around him in a big league lineup. The italicized I can't agree with totally. I think he could have played the triple better, but the double was far from routine. If you were at the game and saw the defensive shift, that others pointed out on here, he had no chance at that ball really. I'd bet less than half of MLB left fielders get to that ball from that shift. High fly ball hit to the right spot and nothing he could do. I totally disagree with the underlined. The defense is not awful. It's not the greatest and could improve, especially with guys hitting cuts, etc, but the attached evidence shows the Reds are tied for 10th (listed at 11th) for fielding percentage. There are 30 teams in the league. I'll take a ranking in the top third of the league in just about anything. I'm all for being critical when the situation calls for it, but if we're going to be downright negative and claim it to be the "plain truth" at least let the numbers support it.
April 24, 20197 yr Author Change to the rotation for the Thursday game. The matchup will now be: Julio Teheran (2-2) vs Luis Castillo (2-1) Reds bump up Castillo and move DeSclafani to the opener of the St. Louis series.
April 24, 20197 yr Alright, here's the deal if you're not slinging suds...anyone doing the tomahawk chop, gets a karate chop to the elbow. And anyone doing any "woo-ing", gets one to the head. Got it?!? I'm counting on you. I didn't see anyone karate chops or hear any woos last night, but I'll assume the latter was happening in innings after my work was over. Hopefully not.
April 24, 20197 yr The Reds today recalled from the Triple-A Louisville Bats OF Phillip Ervin and placed on the 10-day IL OF Matt Kemp (chest wall contusion). He needs to start. Had a big-time PH walk last night.
April 24, 20197 yr All three games times are at 6:40. Hopefully the nice weather and winning 3/4 against the Padres puts a few butts in the seats for our local beer vendor. [/QUOE] Unfortunately I'm not sure it helped get butts in the seats last night. Heard it was under 13,000. i need that number to be more around 18-19K during the week. Was still alright for me because I'm like a walking concession stand with everything I'm carrying right now: Bud Light, Budweiser, Goose Island IPA, two flavors of Bon & Viv (spiked seltzer) = 36 beers total Soda = 10 Water = 10 Peanuts = 18 Cotton Candy = 10 Once the crowds start showing up more, I will probably drop the soda. That's 12 less lbs. If I don't got it, you don't need it! Edited April 24, 20197 yr by MJAlltheWay24

April 24, 20197 yr No, didn't see or hear anything myself. Figured you took care of everything. :lol2: They must have been well behaved last night since the game was close and exciting. Maybe since they got pizza early it kept them from wooing.

April 24, 20197 yr Author Interesting move here. Why not have your best go against the Cards? Analytics? I think it'd be interesting to hear that as well. I'm not sure it was the numbers given Disco's stat line the last time he faced the Cards lol.

Why not have your best go against the Cards? Analytics? Maybe he feels they've got a good chance to win tonight, and that somebody will be ticked off if he doesn't put his best pitcher out there to go for the sweep? In all honesty, the only thing that I can think of is that they want to keep him going every 5th day. Maybe they think he'll lose some of that movement on his changeup if he's too "strong". Or maybe it's that they want to give Disco an extra day of rest? IDK
