Tipoff between Newport (24-8) and Conner (16-12) is tomorrow, Tuesday, Febraury 26 at 6:30pm at NKU's BB&T Arena.

Who wins this one?

I have seen Newport a couple of times this year, and came away impressed each time. Conner playing very well lately, but Newport will prevail. Newport might have the two best combo players in the 9th and love the way they can score the ball.

I like this matchup for Conner. I look for the big 3 of Newport to get frustrated and get away from Coach Snapp’s game plan and try to do too much 1 v 1. Conner by 6...61-55.

After watching the Beechwood/Dixie game it will be interesting to see if Conner can spread the floor like Beechwood did. Conner has 4 shooters who can hit 3’s, S. Couzins, Scott, Ginn, and Osterbur. There is a seldom used sophomore (not sure why the kid can play) Saffell who can shoot from deep also. If Hicks gets 6-7 assist tonight I like Cougars chances of winning. Hicks has really been stepping up the last 3 weeks of the season.

This game might be decided by who is hitting from behind the 3 point line, as the 1st matchup was a battle in the paint.

Newport needs Harding to stay out of foul trouble. I expect this one to be close. Give me the Wildcats by 3.

It’s probably a good thing the “big 3” include 2 other plays in White and Davis in which those are BIG reasons for the success Newport has had. And I can assure they don’t like being called “the big 3”. It’s Newport vs Conner not “the big 3” vs Conner. Newport by 8.

I don't think Glider was trying to be offensive in calling them the "Big 3." They do respectfully average 16, 17, 17. I doubt anyone else in the 9th has their 3rd best player averaging 16!

The "Big 3" have been given more hype than any other trio in the area. However, we all know it is a team sport and it takes all 5 to gel in order to be successful!

I'm typically wrong more than I'm right, but my gut is telling me that Newport chokes tonight, and Conner has a coming out party where people start taking notice.

Very good possibility and I may have just interpreted it wrong.

I think Conner is too dependent on the arc, and this is a new and different type of shooting background for them, so give me the team whose game travels.

Newport by 11-14.

Both are good players, the “big 3” is not a disparaging remark...Newport is a good team, but to have 3 players averaging over 14 points a game is a “big” plus.

Almost game time, really doesn’t matter what us adults/parents think...the young men playing will determine the outcome of this game in a little more than 2hrs.
