"Tax Cuts For The Wealthiest 1%"

Not intending to keep stirring the pot Ace, but public transit is principally funded on a local, county and state level. Granted, a big chunk may be underwritten by federal funding, but again, that is up to local grant writers aggressively putting together workable grant requests.

Our highways and bridges a largely funded by the taxes we all pay on gasoline and diesel fuel.

Eastern Kentucky has benefitted from the addition of major road projects throughout the mountains. We are not as isolated as we were 50 or even 15 years ago.

And, unlike those living in socialist or communist countries, we are free to relocate to another area where infrastructure and opportunities are better for us and our families.

The Dems had control of Frankfort for 30 years prior to Fletcher. If you're unhappy with transportation infrastructure in your region, they might be a good place to start in your quest for answers.

My post was in response to the post above that said the poor get to take advantage of public transit.

What money should I use to relocate? Where do I get the security deposit and the first months rent and the 150 to turn on the electric and the 100 to turn on the gas.

hey

Have you ever thought of how much they make. Exon made 36 Billion alone, profits up 42% and still got a 2.7 billion dollar tax break.

You didn't bother to read the article. Nothing will ever be enough for the something for nothing crowd.

Do you work? Also, you have 15 extra bucks to post on here and whatever your internet service costs, but can't come up with anything for utilities?

No offense Ace, and I certainly don't intend to come across as being insensitive, but questions like this make me admire the Pilgrims and Daniel Boone and the Western Settlers all the more. I don't know anything about you personally, other than that I have agreed with you on some of your Biblical views.

If you are healthy and capable of doing work, I would assume that you could work hard, get a second job if necessary, save a few dollars and make the move. It's not like you have to fell trees, build a cabin, fight off hostile natives, grow crops, weave your own fabric...

It seems to me that more and more people limit themselves, and some find it easier to shift the blame for their lack of achievement on the dirty rotten rich guys hording all the loot and good stuff.

For way too many people, this is a cop out fueled by dirty rotten power hungry politicians coveting their votes.

Few on this site had more humble beginnings than I had. I simply don't choose to be a victim of my circumstances.

I don't think Acemona was speaking in the first person when he wrote those words. I believe he was speaking on behalf of people that are low income, such as the girl in his prior example.

So a better idea is to give that money to the government to setup more entitlement programs??? The better idea is to let Exxon reinvest that money back into their own company to grow profits and grow the number of employees. Without profits, there is no need for more employees. I am pretty sure the ROI that Exxon is going to realize on those $'s is 5X what anyone on capitol hill is going to come up with. Anytime those on capitol hill start talking about price controls, special taxes for large profits(windfall taxes), and protectionism; it is bad news for everyone in America. The surest way to ruin health care in this country is price controls on pharmaceuticals and attempts to nationalize health care. The surest way to stop the energy companies from even attempting to spend money on R&D toward alternative fuels is to overtax their profits. Corporations and individual American citizens will always do a better job of investing their profits than government, because they have a vested interest to do so. As an individual citizen or a corporation, why would you want to give more of your income tax dollars to those on the hill. Do you honestly believe that they can do a better job of deciding how to invest/spend your hard earned dollars than you??? They have proven to be some of the worst managers of money of all time(either side of the aisle).

No...a better idea would be to NOT give our tax dollars to Exon and FUND THE PROGRAMS THAT THE BUSH ADMIN SET UP BUT DOES NOT FUND.

And you actually think that Exon uses that windfall to hire new people and do R&D....thats funny. Corporations are not in business to employ people, they are in the business of making money for their stock holders. No one knows what deal the Bush Admin set up with the energy companies because the energy policies were set up behind closed doors with Cheney. And if you recall, when called in front of Congress, the energy tycoons refused to answer questions under oath, as did Cheny. But that will all change soon.

If you think $1 of your tax dollars goes to Exxon, you are worse than uninformed...

GREAT!!! You know what Exxons job is? To make money. By the way...Exxon is a publicly traded company so everyone has a chance to reap those benefits. EVERYONE! It last traded at $73.

As a shareholder let me explain how this works. When I make money from some of my business'... I invest it. I usually try to invest it in companies that make MONEY (and pay dividends...lol). The more profit the company makes the higher the stock price becomes. As my portfolio grows...I have extra cash. You know what I do with that money? I usually invest it into one of my existing business' or I START A NEW BUSINESS. When I start a new business guess what I do? I HIRE new workers.

That's every corporations job. Thanks for the stock tip, but I think I will invest in companies with a moral compass that will not get them in trouble down the road.

BINGO!!! We have a winner. This is why you want corporations to make money/profits. Without money/profits they do not hire people. Hiring people is exactly what corporations do when they make profits, in the hope of continuing to make a profit. They also spend this money on R&D trying to improve the bottom line more and possibly come up with new products to sell for a profit. I would much rather have Exxon keeping those dollars to fund research and hiring more people, than having those dollars taxed and going into the coffers of the federal government and have them spend it on some crappy social program.

Never said I paid them directly, but the 2.7 million they owed but did not pay was supposed to go somewhere, was it not?
They never owed the 2.7 million. They paid the taxes they owed. I'm not going to tell you how much that was. Look it up, it's a staggering amount. Please don't post that they got breaks until you know how much they paid.

I don't care how much they paid, I just care about the handout they were given.
