Thought on Lawrence County Football

Featured Replies

Just wondering what people on here thought of the state of the program the past couple of years?? Is it a mixture of many things that have kept the program from being dominant as they once were. Lack of coaches? Lack of players coming out? No administration support? Please reply to this one because I want to know what people around the state think. I think that their is a lot of good talent at LCHS and the Dawgs will be back on top before people realize it.

Lawrence County (Louisa) has a great football tradition. I remember many tough battles against them and have always had great respect for them.

I still follow their program as my wife is a LC graduate.

All programs have down years as LC has had. They will right the ship and will be back on top in the near future.

I agree. The time will come for everyone in Louisa and it will be sooner than what people think on here. I remember a lot of great battles that LC was in over the years. Just would like to get some more opinions on here from people all over the state.

Lawrence County football has a bright future for several reasons:

1- Billy Goldsmith is an outstanding coach and he does have the administrative support both for him personally and for football as a whole.

2- Stability. Billy will stay put. Boone will be a sophomore.

3- Outstanding young talent.

4- Football is important in Louisa.

Good Luck to Coach Goldsmith and the Bulldogs!

IMO there are a lot of little things going on in Louisa. Lawrence Co. still has some talented young men on that roster, but the problem is keeping them there. You are always going to have low numbers and alot of transfers when you are having losing years as LC has had for the past 3 years. I also believe this administration isnt behind this program as it used to be. Coach Goldsmith is a great coach, and im not trying to take anything away from him, but I just dont think that he can reach these kids as he could back in the early 90's. Ive heard alot of recent talk about Chuke Williams hanging back around the program, do you think he may be a part of this coaching staff next year?

:thumb: Great post. I hope the people in the community stay positive as the kids feed off their emotioins and anything negative only makes it harder to keep the numbers up. A positive attitude gets positive results!!

TTT I would like to hear some more thoughts from people in this district and region. I know there are more opinions than that. :)

I hope that Lawrence County is smarter than to hire this guy back or even let him hang around, he will ruin your program, I don't care what he has done in the past.

I really dont think he will be around the LC program at all. We have some great coaches in place and the program will be fine, trust me.:thumb:

I obviously don't know about any problems within the LC system or school and if that is effecting things there. What I do know and am sure of is that LCHS football will be back to where they want to be sooner rather than later. There is a proud footbll tradition and love for the game around Louisa and always has been. Good luck to the Bulldogs in the future, I always enjoyed watching your teams play. The support from the community coupled with the way your kids played with such intensity is what h.s. football is all about. I have nothing but respect for the LCHS Bulldog football program.

Good post, I do know that there is a ton of respect and pride from LCHS fans up 23 to Raceland as well.:thumb:

And we appreciate it very much. I would like to see the Rams/Bulldogs battle again in the future. I was in some of those battles in the 70's and always enjoyed playing the Bulldogs, you knew you were in for a dog fight (pun intended)

I was wondering what happened to LC. In the 1990's they were always a top program in this area. It usually starts at the bottom. The top programs in this area always have well run JFL programs that usually teach basics of whatever the high school is trying to do. It is not odd to see Russell JFL teams running a Wing T or Raceland Youth teams throwing the ball 3 out 4 downs.

What level involvement is there at the ground level in LC fanofkyfootball?
