newarkcatholicfan Posted December 24, 2018 Posted December 24, 2018 Yes, I am already planning for next season. I am taking in both bowl games. I plan on pics and articles. See you there.
Oldercoach Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Us old guys remember the Rec Bowl as being one of the greatest kickoffs to high school football in Ky. Ed Miracle and his Lynch teams Mt. Sterling and their jet backs, Madisonville and Alfred (Sonny) Collins. Star of games was like a Who's Who in Ky High School Football. It would be interesting to see that list from those old times.
newarkcatholicfan Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 I remember the first year I attended this event and read about its history, was very impressed. Glad the Rec bowl is a double header again.:thumb:
BBN87 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Do we know the participants this year as of now?
newarkcatholicfan Posted December 25, 2018 Author Posted December 25, 2018 I had them written down in a program, but can't find it. I know people from both hosting schools post on here, so hopefully they will post them.
Oldercoach Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Back in 60's there was a Dr. in town that had a hospitality party at his nearby home between games for all high school coaches in attendance. There would be about 150 of us eating burgers, dogs, and having cold drinks in his picturesque backyard. Wonderful memories.

Oldercoach Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Here's an actual unretouched photograph from one of those games attended by Oldercoach: Leather helmets, footballs more resembling the shape of round basketballs, Prohabition laws ignored by Mt. Sterling bootleggars, Single Wing/Wing T offense recently revived by Coach Jim McKee, Mae West (sultry voice and other dazzling assets). Yes, those Rec Bowl days created fond memories.
jahearme Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 Game 1 of the Rec Bowl will be South Laurel vs. Boyd Co. Game 2 will be Montgomery Co. vs. Powell Co. Here's to bringing the Rec Bowl back to what it use to be (with a few upgrades).

Here's to bringing the Rec Bowl back to what it use to be (with a few upgrades). Be my first time seeing Powell County. First time seeing Boyd during the regular season. First time seeing South Laurel in over a decade. I believe the third time taking in the Rec. bowl. Glad the double header is back.
gchs_uk9 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 @Mr.Network does Lincoln County have participants for the Death Valley Bowl lined up for 2019?
