Hey, we were up only 15-0 at the half tonight. Newport was playing us tough. We forced them to go to the air and we got some picks and it snowballed for them thereafter. We have to bring it or we will get beat.

I saw where you started slowly, but don"t make it sound like you got lucky. geez, you won by 35 or 40 points

I heard that Wayne Co. beat Corbin???

Nope. Corbin all over them 27-0

When Belfry doesn't make mental mistakes and they execute their offense effectively they are a VERY, VERY good football team. If it is possible to say Belfry is flying under the radar.. this seems to be the year. The Pirates have been battle tested against some pretty good opponents, played in close games, illustrated the ability to utilize a passing game, and have been here before and know what it takes.

It's also worth noting just how young this Pirate team is...it is entirely possile that the Pirates won't peak this year due to their youth.

 Under the Radar? Belfry? Uh sure.

When you are in it to win it every year you never fly under the radar. Sorry....

The Trigg Co/Caldwell Co is final. Trigg Co won 10-7 so I guess they get Owensboro Catholic.

Looks like a repeat for the last 2 years, (Hopefully). Trigg has beaten some quality teams on the way, but i got to root for the green and white on this one. I think that coach Edge for Catholic is always been good for one upset for the year if catholic gets the chance to play Mercer Co. Nothing to down play Trigg Co. but i think that with Edge's team clicking on all cylinders now, they are the only ones that have a shot to knock Mercer Co. off there high horse. Looking back at history, Coach Edge's brother Robert Edge prove that when they played the unstopable Harrodsburg Co. back in 96 with a 97 yard touchdown run against the high powered defense. GOOD LUCK ACES. GO FOR A THREE PEAT TO STATE.:dancingpa

 Under the Radar? Belfry? Uh sure.

Put it this way... Tubby Smith said a similar thing about UK at the SEC media days. Belfry will never truly be under the radar per say... but all season what we have seen is talk about how dominant Mercer and Western was.. then how it was going to be a Mercer vs. Russell championship...WYMT probably has covered highlights of Belfry games a total of maybe 5 times the entire season and have not had their normal rnats and raves about the Pirates and have continually ranked Middlesboro ahead of them. The local sports talk shows around the area have focused on the success of Johnson Central.

Meanwhile Belfry has had a very good season against a tougher schedule than any of the top teams left in 2A has played. The Pirates own a win over NewCath who is still chugging along and the defending 1A state Champ, they are healthy, they are dominating teams with their running game, and they have displayed their best passing game in quite some time.

They may not be under the radar but they sure aren't plastered in the middle of it with a huge bullseye like they have been the past couple seasons.

LaRue vs Mercer has a interesting sub plot. Coach Jaggers has very close connections with LaRue County. I may be wrong but I believe Coach Jaggers use to coach at LaRue.

You don't have to justify anything. Belfry is a class act. They have not gotten the attention that other teams have. I would not be one bit surprised if Belfry takes it all the way and upsets Mercer. Although I would like to see Russell in it. I agree with the statement that this year with all the attention that Mercer has gotten, along with Western, and Russell that Belfry has been under the radar. If Russell gets past Corbine I hope to make the trip to Viperman stadium once again.

No, you won't have to go there. Belfry now plays in C.A.M. Stadium. It's as modern as Vipp was "old school". You'll enjoy it, it's a VERY nice facility !!!

I think it was one of his first coaching jobs. I may be wrong but I think his wife is alum of Larue, I do know her dad was band director there for many years. YSo yes, he does have connections to Larue. But then again, after this many years of coaching he has connections to a lot of places, and if he doesn't his dad does.

Old school or Old Testament??

Vipperman Stadium had THE BEST lights in the state. You could see them lighting up the mountains from miles away!

My bad. I was of the impression that they kept the same name. Thanks for correcting me. Again we have to get past a good Corbine team.
