Somerset 34 Harlan 7

I thought Harlan focused too much on Cole they basically played defense 9 vs 10 by having two players shadow Cole all night. Cole ran a lot of deeps, just to take two defenders out of the play. When he went in motion the entire defense would get out of balance just trying to make sure he was doubled. JB had a great scheme to take him out of the game, but at this level you have got to defend the entire team not just one man. That said the Dragon D did a great job getting after Deaton most of the night, it seemed as if he was scranbling on half the pass plays. I do not know how many sacks Harlan had but there were plenty.

I think playing D a man down is what killed Harlands chances of winning, just too much to overcome. :bunny:

While I do agree with you that doubling hurt them bad defensively, I also think that you are "danged if you do, danged if you don't" in that situation. You can double Cole and force Somerset to beat you with some other players or you can play normal coverage against him and face the possibility of him blowing up for 200 yards receiving and multiple touchdowns.

Jumper Dad, they have worn them almost all year and I believe in memoriam of Beth's sister.

Thanks I had not noticed, I normally sit at the other end of the bleachers.

They were set to got to 2A in a district with Corbin, Middlesboro, Leslie Co. and Knott Co. Except for Corbin which is about an hour away by bus the other 3 teams are way over an hour away. They asked to move up to 3A with Wayne Co., Garrard Co., Jackson Co., Taylor Co., and Casey Co. The longest drive is right at an hour. Now as a Jumper fan the 3A district is MUCH weaker than the proposed 2A district so I think it could be a combination of the 2 reasons. I hope that it is because of travel and not team strength, Middlesboro, Leslie and Knott are a haul from Somerset.

I can see why they would want to move to 3A if they were gonna have Corbin, Middlesboro, Leslie Co. and Knott Co. Exactly the reason they came into our district, running from Danville.:thumb:

We might as well try a higher class district...We Dominated this one!

P.S. NG73 you should remember me!

Don't mean to step into y'alls secrets, but I know there are some Jumpers who remember him!

The crew last night was from Bardstown/Etown. They were BAD!

I'm glad it was obvious to everyone. But as I said, it wasn't the difference in the game.

First off your post has the smell of sour grapes to it. I guess after taking a pounding like you did last night and like the district has over the last 4 years I can understand it. However, if you think that the KHSAA just lets Somerset pick excactly what district that they get to play in you are sadly mistaken. Yes, they did petition to move to 3A next year--the trips were shorter and the distict has 6 teams in it as opposed to 5 so it makes it a little easier to fill out a schedule. The reason Somerset moved to YOUR (I guess since we went 23-3 in it we should call it OUR) district is because our old district of Cambellsville, Metcalfe Co., Danville, and Harrodsburg was split up. Danville ended up with Trimble, Frankfort, Carroll, and Owen Co. The other teams were shipped off to the western part of the state. Somerset didn't excactly fit in there anywhere. As for running from Danville that is really silly--Somerset has played the Admirals EVERY year since leaving that district. I'm sorry that you were spanked last night but don't make it worse by taking cheap shots at the team that beat you. Don't worry though you can have OUR district back now, we're done with it:thumb:

Well since this thread is well on its way to being shut down also. I just want to say I will miss this district and the fans from all the teams. I do not think there are more passionate fans anywhere than fans from the mountain teams. We have had success but there was a year where we got it handed to us. I just hope we are suuceesful for years to come and wish luck to district 7 region 4 teams from here on!!!

Boy it doesn't take much for you to revert does it? And I thought you had changed? You even alluded in your own post that you "hoped" it wasn't due to strength. Somerset may have won, but spanked? Pounded? Don't think so. Outscored, outplayed maybe, but physically whipped, nope, sorry. Maybe we can get back to nice now.

Look and see if you are on Danvilles schedule next year. No you are not because your coach said you could no longer compete on that level.

Somerset played Danville to the wire just last year, I would think that shows that they can compete. With the change in class is the 2007 schedule even set yet?
