Let me clarify: I should've said 'eastern' precincts, meaning the more suburban areas outside the Watterson. I was told she had a lead early from those precincts, but it faded away as the more urban precincts started coming in.

Well I was going by the massive gap between the two in the first precinct to report in. I was certain that would be the only one with such a gap.
November 8, 200619 yr Kind of surprised by this. Me too. Very surprised. If this were a city race or maybe a state legislature race it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But how in the world can people elect a guy who has NO political experience into the United States Congress? Not to mention that he's never had a "regular" job in his life. By that I mean performing a job for a set period of time, be it for five years, ten years, twenty years, etc. By his own admission he has trouble focusing on any one project for very long. How will he focus on being a Congressman? I think he'll be chewed up and spit out in the halls of Congress and nothing will get done in the 3rd District for the next two years.

Maybe, but I think they also assumed that would be an indication that the voters would also turn out Whitfield, Lewis and Davis (or at least 1-2 of the three).

Maybe Lewis and Davis. Whitfield was easily in (although he did run a couple ads this time which he normally does not). Little tidbit on Whitfield, easily the weakest handshake you will ever take part in. He has done a decent job for WK, but it is enough to consider voting the other way when casting your vote
