October 4, 20187 yr I think 3 out of the 4 years there were 6 teams who could have been in the playoff. Never more. 6 teams keeps the regular season meaningful and it keeps us from second guessing if team the first or second team out could have been the best team. But you said they always get it right. Now they might not get it right. Seems like you're not sure where you stand. :lol2:
October 4, 20187 yr How often do you think the best team wouldn't win in a hypothetical 16 team playoff? Just like with the NCAA tournament, if the top seed loses to the worst seed, they shouldn't have been the top seed to begin with. I think in a 16 team playoff the best team would win 50-60% of the time.

If the 14 seed (Stanford in this case) would happen to end up winning 4 straight and claiming the title, why wouldn't we regard them as the best team? Wouldn't they have proven they were? Assuming top seeds had won all other matchups, they'd have beaten Ohio State, ND, Georgia, & Bama to win the title...That wouldn't prove their the best team? October 4, 20187 yr I've always thought to expand it to 6. if you win a power 5 conference; then you should be in the playoffs IMO. I can say that because the team I cheer has a good chance to make it in that number. If I were a UCF or another group of 5 fan then i would definitely want it to be 16.

That’s not a debate. They got the right 4 teams every time. There have just been years where teams 5 and 6 had good cases to be in the playoff and deserved to be in, just not as much as the 4 who did make it.

October 4, 20187 yr Virginia was one of 2 best teams in college basketball all year. Since they lost in the first round that somehow makes that not true when we we 34 games to prove otherwise? I just don’t agree with that. Upsets are cute, but when it gets down to it, I want to see the best teams square off. Virginia was good. They weren't the best team or even one of the four best, clearly.

The college football playoff is great. They don’t have the same goal. One is a tournament, one is about finding the best team.

They don’t deserve to be there with teams that have handled their business start to finish.
