October 5, 20188 yr Because...machoism. :lol2: if you never played, you lack a players perspective. The overwhelming majority of guys that played see this as a non-issue.
October 5, 20188 yr Quite the resume...if all that’s true, then I’m gonna say you’re in the rarest of air... Why would you think any of it’s not true?
October 5, 20188 yr Why would you think any of it’s not true? Cause this is the Internet? It’s not your first day using it... Heck there’s TV shows documenting people pretending to be someone they aren’t online :lol2: And I didn’t say it wasn’t true btw.. And I get lied to multiple times a day, so I guess you can say I’m a bit of skeptic :lol2:

October 5, 20188 yr Quite the resume...if all that’s true, then I’m gonna say you’re in the rarest of air... I’ll be happy to provide any evidence you want (there’s plenty I can show you that prove my “resume”) and your free to come observe my practices anytime or talk to any of my players. Sorry you don’t think I’m credible. Granted, I’ve made mistakes, and said things and done things that at times I look back on and regret, but I’ve never gotten physical with a player. Not all coaches act like jerks or get physical with players. None of my coaches did, which I’m guessing is where I learned it from. I did have a basketball coach who regularly got in players faces, cussed us, shoved us to “get us into position”, and called everybody names. We hated his guts, and eventually he got fired. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen. I was lucky in my football career to play for some great men. I know plenty of guys who have told stories, that weren’t so lucky.

October 5, 20188 yr Now, back to the topic, unless this kid has posted on his twitter that he was offended or he comes out complaining about it, I don’t see why anyone is upset over it. If the “victim” had no issue, no one else should. Too many people want to be offended by things that don’t involve them in situations that they’ll never be in.
October 5, 20188 yr I never said you weren’t credible...matter of fact I said it was quite the resume :idunno: Followed by “if all that’s true”. But it’s all good. I know there’s bad guys in the profession. And I also know it’s an emotional game, and people sometimes lose control. I still believe there are more good guys than bad guys in the business of coaching. Bottom line, I don’t think coaches should be able to get away with doing things to players that wouldn’t be acceptable in every day life on the job or in the classroom.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just cause you think it’s wrong to get in a players face when they screw up doesn’t make you right or them wrong. It’s just your view. I’d say if your view was in the majority, there would’ve been lots of public outrage. It’s also not acceptable to celebrate laying someone out in every day society either. Sports and the behaviors in it are acceptable on the field. Comparing coaching and sports to a corporate job is just comical.

It is “my opinion”, and that’s how I choose to operate, and ask and require my assistants to operate the same way. And while you bring up a good point about the differences between sports and the corporate world, grabbing the face mask is illegal on the football field. If a player is prohibited from doing it while playing, and gets penalized (no matter how minor), why should it be ok for a coach to do it to a player?
October 5, 20188 yr It’s not ok. It’s a person of power exerting a form of physical control over another person. Would it be ok if your boss grabbed you by the tie and tugged you in close to get your attention or to reprimand you? I’ll never understand why we accept these forms of physical intimidation in sports, but never would in everyday society. I’ve coached and played football for over 35 years. And as a coach you don’t need to be physically or verbally abusive to get your point across. Until accounting or IT become physical in nature, this is a terrible analogy.
October 5, 20188 yr Until accounting or IT become physical in nature, this is a terrible analogy. Exactly.
