October 2, 20188 yr No. Is ranking what we’re discussing? I pointed out that Sparty is overrated. They haven't played anyone as good as Clemson and lost to Arizona State. They're overrated and I wouldn't be surprised to see Syracuse beat them. Yet, they're ranked...
October 2, 20188 yr But they’re UCF not Notre Dame. Yes, but they're undefeated again. If they stay that way, they should be considered.
October 2, 20188 yr A top 25 team. But you didn't specify that in your post laying out what a non-P5 team had to do to be in the discussion... Since you keep changing the requirements on the fly, if UCF gets a Top 25 win this year, they should be considered for the playoff, correct?

October 2, 20188 yr Yes, but they're undefeated again. If they stay that way, they should be considered. I’ll be rational about it. Let’s eliminate the Pac 12. Let’s say Alabama wins the SEC. it doesn’t matter if they have 1 loss or undefeated they are in. Let’s say Clemson drops a game but wins ACC. Let’s say Ohio State drops a game but wins Big 10, and let’s say Oklahoma is also a 1 loss champ. Notre Dame is undefeated or 1 loss and Georgia’s only loss is to Alabama. This is a very reasonable and IMO likely scenario that will play out. You honestly think UCF should be in this discussion, with these teams? Now if you want to say they can be considered with 2-3 2 loss champs, then sure, consider them but no matter how you stack it their resume won’t stack up despite the 0 in the loss column.

Since you keep changing the requirements on the fly, if UCF gets a Top 25 win this year, they should be considered for the playoff, correct? At some point they’ll face another ranked team in the AAC so no that alone isn’t enough. It needs to be a top 25 OOC game. My criteria: - Win a big bowl game year before. - Go undefeated. - Beat a marquee power 5 opponent OOC (top 25). - Have 2 or more 2 loss champs. - Georgia and Penn State need to lose 2 games (this year).
October 2, 20188 yr Nothing you are saying proves Syracuse is better that MSU. Reverse that and you'll get it.
October 2, 20188 yr Yeah big OOC opponent, something UCF doesn’t have but Houston did. Let's look at this your way then. Who has Penn State beaten? The only p5 team they've beaten was Pitt. The same Pitt UCF stomped last weekend. If Pitt is not a quality win then Penn State has no quality wins. Therefore Ohio state has no quality wins.

October 2, 20188 yr Reverse that and you'll get it. Like I’ve told you time and time again, you can think Syracuse is better than Sparty all you want... you have no basis to make such assertions and I have talent, coaching, and history on my side. But feel free to make the argument. If that’s how you feel then so be it. Just be prepared to defend your argument.

If Pitt is not a quality win then Penn State has no quality wins. Therefore Ohio state has no quality wins. Penn State plays a power 5 schedule. The rigors of doing so are more than enough to get them in any year if they deserve it based on record. This goes for any power 5 team. I don’t care who it is. You can’t compare playing an AAC schedule to playing any power 5 schedule. I don’t care if the team is Rutgers, Kansas, Vandy, or any other horrible power 5 team.
October 2, 20188 yr So again, you’re changing your criteria on the fly... It’s actually the criteria I’ve always used but yes keep acting like I’m just pulling this out of thin air.

October 2, 20188 yr It’s actually the criteria I’ve always used but yes keep acting like I’m just pulling this out of thin air. I'm not acting anything. You made both of these statements. They are two very different statements. You are, in fact, changing your criteria as you go because others keep shooting holes in it. Just own it. That's just how it is when you aren't a P5. To get in the discussion as a non P5 is a 2 year process. You need to get to a NY6 bowl and win. Then the next year you need to schedule a big OOC opponent and win then go undefeated. That gets you in the conversation.

You are, in fact, changing your criteria as you go because others keep shooting holes in it. Just own it. Those are actually the same statements. One is broken down into bullet points and gives a description of “big OOC opponent” and includes the inferences that I figured I didn’t need to break down because any rational person would understand they’re there i.e. going undefeated and having multiple 2 loss conference champs. It’s really not that complicated...
