Bengals 34 Ravens 23

Featured Replies

Nice win but like someone said earlier a few things to clean up. Several things went the Bengals way last night that could back to bite them. They still need to take care of the ball and manage the clock better and not waste timeouts on offense. Given that they are 2-0 and that's never a bad thing to start the season. I think this game shows just how bad Buffalo is and not much about Baltimore's questions. Take the 2 victories and move on getting ready for Newton and the Panthers on the road.

The Bengals can be very very good and then again mediocre all in the span of three hours. Making big plays near the end of two games by the defense is a really good sign. They are young in several spots and will make some mistakes, as they have both games.

They still need to clean up penalties and dropping picks. The phantom or ticky tack call on Dre at the end of the first half never happens if he catches the interception a couple of plays earlier.

What I like though, is much more than what I dislike. I like ML being aggressive with a 21 point lead and the ball near midfield with 1:50 left in the first half. Even though it backfired, I like trying to go for the throat. AD is really playing well. If he continues this type of play, they will be in every game. The D-line will destroy immobile QB's like Flacco, it will be interesting to see how they fare against Cam in 10 days. He's a totally different guy. Boyd just keeps getting better and better , as well as, Uzomah. And, finally, they are getting really good play out of their 1st three picks (until Billy Price went down) which is something they have been missing on in teh last 2-3 drafts.

Completely agree on all of this. Dre Kirkpatrick is a starting cb in this league and would start elsewhere. He isnt a shut down corner but isnt horrible either. We have basically a shut down corner in WJ3. So as you said teams are going to throw a lot of passes his way, some are going to be completed.

I would take his coverage he has on that td Brown caught 10 times out of 10. It was great coverage, and just an unbelievable catch.

He is terrible as a ball hawk, though. He's dropped 3 INTs so far this season. The second one in Indy would have iced the game. Luckily the Colts fumbled later in the drive. For as much junk as he talks, he needs to play better.

Dre was in the right spot on that TD to Brown but every once in a while you have to make a play instead of just being in the right spot. He missed three straight tackles on that one series and he has hands of stone. He is the weak spot on the defense and he needs to pick up his game.

If Dre is the weak spot on the defense, the Bengals are in a very good position...

True. I haven't seen safeties play this well since Fultcher and Wilcox in the late 80s, early 90s.

Burfict comes back to add to the linebacker corp by game 5. Can you say "loaded"?

What's crazy is I felt like Dre didnt put himself in spots for many interceptions. But when he did he caught it. This year he has given himself more chances but now can't catch them.

However even if he isnt catching them. Its showing he is in the right spot. Thats still better than not being in the right spot.

I agree with that. A pass dropped is still a pass defensed.

Can't wait till the Bengals get reality check on October 14th.

Lance McAllister just reported Mixon will need arthroscopic knee surgery to clean up the knee he injuried last night.

Did you guys see him whiff on three straight tackles?

Got to give some credit to the Bengals offensive line. Billy Price goes down early and the line just kept rolling on.

Also have to say the Bill Lazor offense is looking good. Andy is using the designed check downs and under routes well to avoid blitzes and sacks.

The first half belonged to the offense. The second half belonged to the defense.

Finally, Dre Kirkpatrick played a good game. The plays where catches were made, he was right there in coverage. He is getting thrown at a lot because teams are avoiding Jackson so he is going to get beat on some plays. My only knock on Dre is he missed a chance for an INT and the grab on the pass interference penalty was unnecessary since he had good coverage and the ball was overthrown.

I agree VOR, but I would have to say that the PI on Dre was a poor call, even the retried ref in the booth agreed the flag should have been left on the belt. PI is so subjective, one guy gets jammed on an illegal pick route and nothing is called, Dre pulls on the guys jersey when the ball is clearly 5' over his head and the flag is dropped. Poor call IMO.

Did you not see him dancing with the senior citizens at their tailgate at the retirement home? IMO he is a good player, show me a good corner and I'll show you a guy that didn't have the hand to play WR!
