Highlands 34 Campbell County 7

Featured Replies

I disagree. I don’t think Scott County is as strong this year. I was surprised by this Highlands score tonight. Game is at Highlands this year. I think they beat Scott County next week.

SC is really good this year. 601 yards rushing.

Considering Cramer is a first year starter with a super deep bench Highlands is looking good this season. Once he gets his feet on the ground and receivers are tight this is gonna be a team to watch. Opponents have scored 14 points in two games. Defense is solid.

I think most underestimated the defense.

I think Highlands is much better maybe 2nd or 3rd best team in NKY. Scott County was down in 3rd QTR tonight to an average team before turning it on. Highlands crushed probably the best 6a team in NKY.

4th best maybe.

Congratulations to Highlands. I figured that this would be closer. Hope things continue on as they have as the season goes on.

Simon Kenton?

I'm hearing Highlands "turned it on" in the second half. Truth is, they changed things. I would like to see the staff make these changes earlier against a team like Scott Co.

1, they started rotating in Buten and going 2 backs for a few sets in the second half. This change got the running game going and gave Coop some help. Just FYI, Buten has about 10 carries on the year and 2 long TDs.. When both of them are in there, you can run misdirections, you have an extra blocker, and you don't know who is getting the ball, it causes problems for the D..

2, in years of the past, HHS receivers were small and burners, so they used their speed to separate and went deep a lot. This group of guys are NOT that, but they are REALLY talented... King, Ahfeld, Roberts, Sisson... These are bigger guys than Highlands has had in a LONG time. These guys can take hits and once they started calling more intermediate passes , the O was rolling.

The D really stepped up in intensity and I honestly thought the camels looked exhausted by the middle of the 3rd and the birds picked it up.

Also have to call out #7 on CC for the BEST CATCH you will see in High school football all year. That kid has talent.

Highlands won this game but it wasn’t too difficult when the Camels turned it over to them 6 times. If I’m the Birds, I’m concerned about my offense and my pass protection. Too many times, Cramer just escaped pending doom. RB Buten is the real deal and will be a force with more carries. He’s the power back the offense needs. DE Ben Sisson was an absolute force and he is so fun to watch. I think Highlands defense will be their strength for sure but the offensive road is still long.

Campbell’s defense was put in a no-win situation all night. For the most part, they bailed out the team. They had 2 major letdowns, which were direct results of TD passes. CC’s LBs are something else and were in the HHS offensive backfield all night.

Not sure what to say about the Camels offense other than I hope Styer tweaks the format a bit because it needs it.

Simon Kenton?

No I think Campbell County is best in 6a in NKY this year.

Agree you play a team that turns it over 6 times you better win big. Highlands is for sure improved but we will see next week how improved. Not saying they have to win but it has to be competitive. Defense is good enought to make a run but offense needs to improve but it is getting better.

Simon Kenton and Ryle have to be talked about before Campbell County. Neither of them are looking wildly strong this year, so the Camels have a shot, but I'd suggest we revisit this question a couple of weeks down the road. Last night showed me that the talent is there, but the focus needs work. They seemed to get gassed pretty early in the second half, as well.

Heard the same thing this past week. Nice win over Cooper, but we'll see how good they REALLY are against Campbell County. Ended up causing 6 TOs and winning 34-7. CC didn't just give HHS the ball. This D is aggressive, hits hard, finishes plays, in great condition, and is going to cause turn overs all year because of it.

Gassed and deflated. Somewhere in the 3rd quarter they just lost their spirit. It was either one of the red zone picks or the kickoff return muff.
