GRC has three girls in top 50 and will be a top team in state.

 

I haven’t heard of Louisville Christian Academy but with the #1 girl in the state and two others on the list they should be a top 10 team in state this year.

 

Who you play AAU for must be a HUGE deal because the #3 girl who plays for Ky Premier has every big school offer there is while the #2 girl has some D2/NAIA offers? Maybe a low D1 offer? I’m unsure, but it’s not much.

 

Have heard a bunch of negative about this year’s seniors and although the top three girls are juniors, there are 16 senior girls in the top 25. Maybe no big stars but a solid class?

 

Two names that are missing from the top 50, possibly the top 25. Mya Meredith, Scott high school and Emma Taylor, Campbell County. By seasons end they will be at least in top 50 guaranteed.

Interesting the Thomas from Holy Cross and Macke from Highlands arent mentioned on there. Nor is Pelfry from Dixie or the shooter from Ryle. I think by the end of the year, the names I mentioned along with a few others from the Northern Ky area will be on this list.

You always have to take his rankings with a grain of salt. He obviously only sees a handful of players and puts heavy emphasis on those who attend his camp.

The #3 girl has all those offers because she is that good. She has performed on the highest level where you cannot hide and rose above all the rest. She has also done that in the top bracket of the top division, not the Silver Bracket. Beware of social media champions. But thats how you get Power 5 and many many offers. Not who you play for, however we do have that platform for the kids, and are always looking for more great kids. :thumb:

 

I also agree Mya Meredith is a player and should be on that list. There are alot of great players in Kentucky, actually some of the best in America. Girls basketball has taken a great jump forward in our state in the past 6/7 years and for that we should all be proud.

 

The list in particular sucks. Not saying any kid is bad, but Bolus does not see these kids in the setting that you must see them to make a overall ranking and make it close. Player rankings are to use a old phrase "Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder" . The top scouts that cover girls basketball nationally differ some, but not a ton. Those are the ranking services college coaches pay $$$ for. Like I stated in another post, very few colleges outside of Kentucky even know who Bolus is and those know that unless you are a paid camper your ranking wont be real high, because he dont see them in that setting.

 

8/10 Schools that take these recruiting services only use them to secure a good rating when it comes to their overall recruiting class for a certain year anyway. That way its published and is a great recruiting tool. Its against NCAA rules now for the coaches to even call these guys/gals and speak specifically to them about certain players, only access the info through a NCAA certified website that the recruiting companies have.

 

And also I dont know if I have ever watched Miss Taylor at Campbell play, but I like tips and you can bet I will watch her this coming year.

Ignorance is ignorance in this instance; it is difficult to win an argument using the “I’m ignorant, but you’re more ignorant” tact. I would stick with facts and positive opinions.

 

Second, your cherry picking of facts reflects your bias and agenda. #3 girl is going to wind up being the most highly recruited girl to ever come out of Kentucky. Concluding that that is the case because of who she plays AAU for is unfair to her and her family, and it’s unfair to the other girls and organizations represented. The biggest flaw in your reasoning with respect to the “HUGE” difference the organization makes is, if you remove #3 from the calculus, the dozens of other 2020s that play for that organization are not as highly ranked and do not hold those kinds of offers. For that matter, none of the seniors on the list hold those kinds of offers either. The aberration in this analysis is player #3, not the organization she plays for. Now having said that, the fact that she has been the featured talent in the organization has certainly helped her exposure, but your conclusion that she got all those offers because of who she plays AAU for doesn’t explain why the other girls in that organization (or boys, for that matter) don’t have the same kind of offers or rankings.

 

You spin your facts to suit your agenda, but I can do the same thing to suit my agenda. The only consistent theme among those top 3 players, all 2020s, is that they all played for the Kentucky Royals at some point. And given that the Kentucky Royals are 19-1 all time against your organization, it’s not surprising that there is a consistent, continuing and pervasive effort by that organization to recruit Kentucky Royal players to leave and join that organization. It has worked in the past, and a number of players have, in fact, left, including #3, but all the others that have left have not enjoyed the “HUGE” difference benefits you imply result from playing for that organization.

 

Finally, the Royals and #2 have accorded themselves well against many of the top 2020 teams and players in the country, and are absolutely on the high D1 radar. Choose to believe that or not, but the fact that your organization continues to recruit those players is well known and implicitly corroborates Bolus’s rankings, including that of #2.

 

I might suggest waiting until next summer, when all the 2020s are playing in the same tournaments, to assess the accuracy of Bolus’s rankings, or any others, and the relative merits of playing for one organization or another.

I do not know. The girls you speak of that have played for the Royals at some point how long did they play for them. It sounds to me your doing the same thing and saying its the organization they have played for. You seem to be giving the Royals a lot of credit and know their record which by the way records in AAU mean nothing.

First I wasn’t implying Scherr’s offers were just because of Premier. Bolus states “based on college potential” so something unusual was there. Just a random thought.

 

I’m mostly confused by the second posts wording actually, but I meant nothing negative towards other programs. I think the Legacy program is one of the best and I’m not sure there’s any girls at all on Bolus list.

 

I’ve certainly heard of Shelby Calhoun but never paid much attention to who she played for. Just noticed that several other girls from her team made the list. Should I have heard of Calhoun’s team somehow? I’ve never seen them listed in a state ranking or heard of them being a top team in Louisville or their region? I don’t even know what region they’re in?

 

Let’s use the list for positive discussions about what good players or teams are out there that could be top players or teams. Or for discussions about what players should be higher in the ranks. Sorry again if I frustrated some

You did not read real close. My post says this was due to hard work that a certain player had done. However if you think those offers come from playing in secondary brackets then you just have a chip on your shoulder. I never said anyone was better or worse. I say the colleges know who can play and who cant.

Really excited about this coming season. Had M Bell in second group, think she should be in top group, She has committed to EKU. She won't wow you with her scoring as we have other players that step-up in that area. But she is the work horse of the team.

I'm a little confused at the animosity towards Jesse James above. Nowhere does he mention Kentucky Premier. He simply mentions platform. The platform is Nike GEYBL. #3 as she is referred to happens to not just play in the NIKE GEYBL, but this past season she technically "played up" a year. #3 could play at any NIKE GEYBL club, Gym Rats, Flight, All-Ohio, etc. and the same scholarship offers would be available. Why? because every summer league game she plays in, she is playing against other D1 signees and offerees. Probably 99% of the girls in a 17u GEYBL game have signed or offered D1. That is just fact and I believe what Jesse James' point was.

 

His other point was that Bolus doesn't see the kids in this setting. Also, true. Until Bolus is court side at Nike Nationals watching #3 play against the best rated point guard from say the West Coast, I believe Jesse James' point about the list is valid. Look, don't take it from me. Just ask any Power 5 college coach in the country who the best 2020 in Kentucky is. Better yet, ask USA Basketball who had her at their summer trials.

 

And no, she won't be the "highest" recruited player ever to come out of Kentucky. Sara Hammond and Erin Boley literally had every major girls basketball offer there is. You can't go any "higher" than that, but she could match that level and good luck to her doing so.

I know almost nothing about girls basketball players being recruited in Kentucky, but I would have guessed that Sydney Moss was the most highly recruited player in Kentucky in recent years. Are the players we are talking about here more highly-recruited than Moss was?
