I see 4A #1 Johnson Central is traveling all the way to Beechwood Friday night for a scrimmage against the 1A #1 Beechwood Tigers.

 

All things being equal JC wins this scrimmage, correct?

 

I do expect this to be a hard fought scrimmage that should help both teams.

From the comments I've heard J.C. Coach Jim Matney make, he really likes this team. They have running back Shoeless Joe back after he missed virtually all of last season with a knee injury. So, this team may have the pieces in place to make another run at the 4A championship game. With that being said, Beechwood will be Beechwood. I figure they can hold their own with just about any of the smaller schools including those in 4A. Corbin, a 3A finalist from a year ago, found that out the hard way last season when they paid the Tigers a visit. If I had to pick a winner, yes, I'd pick Johnson Central, but it's not a sure thing. I'd love to see this matchup.

Not sure. Last I heard they were trying to find refs. Hopefully everyone comes away healthy and better after the scrimmage. Looks like JC is run first, which stopping the run for BW is ahead of stopping the pass due to a most of the DL returning and new secondary for BW.

I really like this scrimmage for both teams as it should prep both for what looks to be another run at a state title. If all things are considered equal and this one is played like a regular football game I think it will be a really close scrimmage, with either team winning. A scrimmage is a scrimmage is a scrimmage, though! So who knows how it will play out as well as what the end result means for either team going forward. It should be a great learning experience for both teams though.

I disagree, I think there is going to be a period in this scrimmage (maybe half of a football game) where each team goes nearly full out trying to find out what they are capable of against a quality opponent.

I feel the same as you. While the end result may not show who is the better team due to going "all out" may be for a limited period of time. I do believe that these two will run several series in a row with their best players on the field to see what they need to work on going forward.

They were supposed to scrimmage Huntington this weekend and it got cancelled due to thunderstorms.. I presume they are rescheduling it for tonight it sounds like
