Collins getting big news tomorrow???

Featured Replies

Walton might want to worry about Gallitan County.

Wow, bold statement. I know Gallatin gave WV all they could handle in the All A 8th final but with Miles back and the height WV will have it seems to me Gallatin is in that 2nd tier category behind WV and Collins. Besides Coomer and one of the area's best coaches what does Gallatin have returning?

Btw, seems odd to talk about favorites and not mention any of the Oldham schools.

Outside of adding some depth, does anyone going from Shelby to Collins really take Collins from good to great, as the op seems to allude to? Don't get me wrong, it definitely doesn't hurt Collins, and it really hurts SC, but I don't know if it makes Collins all that much better or elevates them in the early season region rankings much if any above where they were. Now the other move in/transfer kids I don't know about, maybe they help a ton, maybe they don't, I don't know. It's all interesting for sure, and we'll have to wait and see.

My thoughts exactly.

1. The bigger kid, has been enrolled and is at school at Collins. He is 6’7 and not great offensively but I think what Collins needed. It gives them a defensive presence around the rim. The coach at Collins will have ready.

2. The other party went to Collins and from what I was told was denied. Supposively there is more to come to this story and is a very sore subject in the town and at the BOE. More to come later, things changing daily.

The sophomore transfer is there and enrolled and will be a solid piece.

The 6’4 Sr at Shelby County would be top 7 player in the region on the right team this year, the kid flat out plays with more heart than anyone and has never been in an ounce of trouble. So to answer if anyone from shelby could help Collins or anyone else the answer is Yes

I said earlier nobody seems to be mentioning any of the Oldham's as contenders. I have a feeling South will be there in the end.

The 8th looks to be very competitive with depth this year. I am going to try and invest some time into going to some of the bigger games this coming winter. I completely forgot about Spencer Co. too. I know ppl will say they haven't made it to Henry Co. in a while but I have confidence them and Collins will come out of that district. Walton and Simon Kenton, South Oldham and NOT Trimble, Gallatin and ??? (the team all the other teams will want to draw). Seems to be 6 possible contenders in the 8th IMO

Who is the coach at Collins now??

Gaither. He’s been the only coach

Curtis turley was the first coach at Collins. Gaither is the second.

South Oldham will be very good. They have had a couple of move ins as well.

Oldham still has talent.

Collins and WV are above the rest. South, Simon, Oldham and Spencer in the next group.

Gallatin may be best of the rest.

Sorry. Forgot about Turley. Was he just there the first year?

Yes, just one year. Curtis never stayed anywhere very long. He liked to poach talent and move on.

I was going to say “the guy that switched jobs a bunch?” but I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Temple under John Chaney then Georgetown under happy. The 8th has several quality coaches, Gaither is my pick as the best. Good guy too.

Are you talking about TJ from Shelby County? If you are I would say he's a decent player but a "top 7" player in the region on the right team?? I would have to greatly disagree with that assessment.

Also, I have watched several teams from our region over the summer and different AAU tournaments and there are going to be several teams under the radar that are going to be really good. South Oldham is one of those. The region will be wide open. Miles from Walton Verona is very impressive. Saw Brooks from WV. I will say he is tall. Their guards will determine how good they are going to be. Size is nice, but guards determine if a team is really good or not.

Anderson County and Shelby County will struggle greatly. Spencer County had four players that had very good summers on the AAU circuit. Starting five will be very good. They will have to overcome lack of size, but have legitimate 5 knock down shooters.

It should be fun.
