July 7, 20188 yr I still dont get the need to trade him. Best center fielder in baseball. The reds are one of the best scoring offenses in the NL. So imo there is no need to get rid of him. It's nice having someone who plays great defense, and then offensively when he does get on base he scores. His on base percentage is horrible. Yet he is 4th on the team in runs scored and onlu a few away from first. The guys in front of him have 60 or more at bats than him. So while he may not get on much, when he does he scores. The reds have a lineup that allows them to be able to keep him and not trade him imo. Hamilton is a really good fourth outfielder. Plays great defense, can be used for late defense and as pinch runner in must need situations, adds those positives when he is a starter ... I like him as a fourth outfielder.

He is really coming on since staying on the right handed side of the plate. Switch hitting was killing him.
July 7, 20188 yr Reds scored two on back to back Wild pitches and Winker swings at the next pitch. Reds up 2-0.

I like him as a starter. His defense saves runs that we dont even know about. Some of the balls he gets to that look routine for him, may be doubles if it was someone else in center. Plus as mentioned he is still 4th on the team in runs scored even with a low obp. The only ones in front of him have 60 or more at bats than him. On another team that may not be as good offensively I would like him more as a 4th outfielder because those teams need guys on base more. With this team which is a good offensive club. Give me the guy who prevents runs, and when he gets on base usually scores. His low obp doesnt hurt this team where he hits now in the lineup.

July 7, 20188 yr Suarez with a three run bomb, Hamilton two hits, Good outing by Harvey and a big two out hit by VOTTO adds up to a 7-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
July 7, 20188 yr Reds gives Cubs a run as Schebler loses ball in the sun and the pitcher gets a hit to get a run in. Schebler also lost the next ball but Hamilton ran over to pull him out. Harvey out, Hernandez in. Harvey not as good as last time but an error and lost ball contributed to two of his runs allowed.
July 7, 20188 yr Hernandez gives up a HR and Garrett coming in. Reds up 7-4 in bottom of 7th. Need bullpen to be good for the rest of this game.
July 7, 20188 yr Garrett comes out and walks the first two hitters in the 8th at the bottom of the lineup. You have to have some mental toughness Amir and now a single. Bases loaded, AMIR!!!!! Hughes coming in.
July 7, 20188 yr Another hit, we are in big trouble thanks to Garrett thinking the game was over after the seventh inning.
