October 25, 200619 yr Author I believe the mindset of the people we are fighting is the same mindset or ideology that happened on 9/11. And just so you will know, I have no cable or satellitte so I don't get FOX news channel.:thumb: I could count on 2 fingers the number of times I have seen a Bill Reiley or Hannity/Combs show. As far as you Scripture quote, were we wrong in WWII, too? WWI? That ended up in taking a lot of innocent lives in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Would Jesus have dropped the atomic bomb? JFTR - The dropping of the second bomb was really not necessary to end the war with Japan, it was done as a deterrent to the Russians to show what kind of force we had - kind of breaks your heart doesn't it, but that is another thread.

None of us can live the life Jesus lived because he was perfect and we are not. None of us can do the things that Jesus did because we are not perfect. I will ask though a question posed to me that has really threw me for a loop. In the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra, do you think there were children, maybe even infants in that town that was completely destroyed. Would the infants have not been innocents?

October 25, 200619 yr Not sure that I believe in an Historical Sodom and Gomorra. Paints too ugly of a picture of God that I have seen through JC It seems you have not seen the entire JC, then. From Matthew 10th chapter and from Jesus Christ emphasis mine... 34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to turn " 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her motherinlaw— 36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'[e] 37"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. JC said he came to turn a daughter against her mother and a son against his father. Is that the JC you are talking about?
October 25, 200619 yr Anyone who votes strict anything is probably a fool. God gave us wisdom to choose wisely, not to be lemmings. Too bad most people don't use their God-given talents. It's kind of hard to see, but the caption underneath says: "When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other."
October 25, 200619 yr i got it on the partial birth, but what about the first 24 weeks. Thank your for the non-snide reply. If it is well understood that that it is murder, then why sooo many doctors? Are they all just stupid idiots that want the money, and why are they not prosecuted? My reply was not intended to be snide. I was seriously asking a question. Abortion is obviously an extremely divisive issue, and the use of inflammatory language when discussing it does not help people in their search for a resolution. Your original post did not indicate "Partial Birth" abortion. Rather, it referenced abortion in general. That is why I asked. Frances
October 25, 200619 yr First off it is not well understood that it is murder. I would say the medical community is as split on abortion as the public is. The AMA's main concern is they don't want medical practices legislated by the government, period. There you have it. The situation explained, in a nutshell. Frances
October 25, 200619 yr Pro-life is the deciding factor for me. Two candidates are pro-life and then I use the other things to decide between the two candidates. I understand the other things, but any type of life if better than NO life at all. I believe the death penalty is different because OT Scripture indicates there are times that the death penalty is justified and you have an adult who has made a consious action to warrant this compared to an innocent life whose only action was to be conceived. I see the Iraqi citizens killed as not a direct result of the actions of this country but as the actions of those who want to fly planes into skyscrapers. I believe the Bible indicates that there are times where countries have to say no more will we accept and allow this to happen. Darfur, from my little knowledge, would be a place I would have no problem with us going in, if we could, and stop what is happening. The OT lists several times that countries including the nation of Israel went to war with God's blessings. Do you think that outlawing abortion will stop it ?
October 25, 200619 yr Do you think that outlawing abortion will stop it ? It would probably have about the same affect as a county being "dry" has toward prevention of alcohol consumption within its borders — those with the means will travel somewhere where there are no restrictions to do it (such as driving to Richmond or Tennessee to buy beer), while those without will come up with ways to do it themselves (like moonshiners).

Exactly....and making it the MAIN ISSUE that someone would cast their vote FOR or AGAINST is nonsense.
October 25, 200619 yr Exactly....and making it the MAIN ISSUE that someone would cast their vote FOR or AGAINST is nonsense. Not if you believe that you will one day have to answer for your actions or lack thereof on the subject. That belief (that many obviously have) makes it far from nonsense.
October 25, 200619 yr Not if you believe that you will one day have to answer for your actions or lack thereof on the subject. That belief (that many obviously have) makes it far from nonsense. Question (not to you in particular, but to the board in general): Does the opposition to abortion come from a literal reading of the Bible?
October 25, 200619 yr Do you think that outlawing abortion will stop it ? No anytime you have laws, there will be people that will break them. But it would cut into the number of babies losing their lives everyday.
October 25, 200619 yr Question (not to you in particular, but to the board in general): Does the opposition to abortion come from a literal reading of the Bible? My belief is that Jesus Christ would not support the taking of a baby's life in the manner an abortion does. Do you think he would? If I answer no to my own question, than I cannot support it.
