REAL abortion question

Featured Replies

Question (not to you in particular, but to the board in general): Does the opposition to abortion come from a literal reading of the Bible?

To answer for myself, (I've not studied the Bible in great detail) I believe that life begins at conception, therefore abortion is taking one's life, which IMO is murder. I understand that not everyone will agree with me, but for my own sake I will not do anything to promote abortion, and even though it may be nonsense, I do support pro-life candidates.

My belief is that Jesus Christ would not support the taking of a baby's life in the manner an abortion does. Do you think he would?

No, I don't. But I didn't change my opinion from Pro-Choice to Pro-Life entirely because of my faith. There were a lot of other variables that I considered; that's not to say faith wasn't a big part of it. And I don't really take a hard-line stance on it.

I could say the same thing for my views up to your last sentence. I did not come strongly to my faith till the late 1990's. My view on abortion was developed long before that.

A lot of kids whose mothers chose not to have abortions, steal cars when they are 14. A lot of people on here want to shoot them at 14 when they steal cars. However, mothers who realize they can't raise children and the doctors who perform it are looked at as murderers. Oh the irony.

The 14 year old is a result of his actions. What actions did the unborn child have to warrant losing his life?

I'd blame it on the mother in both instances. Had the mother of the 14 year old raised her child not to be a criminal, he'd be alive. If she had an abortion because she realized she wasn't fit to have children then the man who shot her son while defending her property wouldn't be facing prison.

That decision should have been made before she took actions that lead to pregnancy. There are ways to prevent that from occurring.

Also, as pointed out in that thread. The latest news reports have said and the wife verified the car was coming AT HIM instead of away. That may change again, but it seems the link I posted with the Enquirer story got it wrong.

She didn't take those steps. Obviosly she should have taken other steps of birth control (which some still think are unethical) but had she aborted this child (that she probably had for a check) then he wouldn't have stolen a car and tried to run a man down. Then the man wouldn't have to live with the fact that he shot and killed a 14 year old child.

Next time I shoot someone that will be my defense. Place the blame on the mother for not aborting them. After all if she had the good sense to abort him or her I would have never had to shoot them.

Maybe the man has to live with those consequences because he elected to discharge his gun. Why must everone pass the blame in todays society. No one is accountable for anything.

Lets blame the man, who decided to have sex with the woman without protection, who failed to abort her child, who never realized that stealing a car was wrong, which forced this poor man to have to shoot him.

I say he does 20 to life. Seems fair to me.

Can we blame that man's mother and father? How about the church?

Not mine, necessarily. Anytime you kill a "fetus" that could possibly survive outside the womb, its murder.

You tell me, your the one who started blaming the mother for this man misfortune of having to shoot her son.

This is WAY off topic. IF you want to talk about the 14 year old being shot, then go to this thread.

I'm not really blaming anyone. Just stirring the pot a bit and hoping we can look at all factors. He is a kid, his Mom has never won Mother of the year, he's poor, he's from the hood, he has a record, etc. etc. etc. Granted he made a bad choice, but that's a pretty young age. I had a friend in high school who was really a nice guy who had been sent away because he had stole cars. He was reformed, got his GED at 16, and joined the Army. This kid never got that opportunity.

Sorry.
