Sometimes a loss to a large, highly rated team is worth more than a victory over a smaller, lower rated team.

Do you think the computer is programmed to give Lexington and Louisville schools extra points?

I completely agree. I also think generally the city schools schedules are going to be more difficult than the rural schools schedules. That is why it is impressive that a Johnson Central has climbed so high in the computer rankings.

I WOUL D LIKE TO KNOW HOW IN THE PAST IF THE RANKINGS ARE CLOSE TO THE WAY THE TEAMS ACTUALLY FINISH UP WHEN THE PLAYOFFS ARE OVER

I DONT THINK THE COMPUTERS ARE SET THAT WAY I THINK THAT WHOLE SYSTEM IS FLAWED PROBALLY TO THE HIGHER CLASS OF SCHOOL FOR EXAMPLE BELL ACCORDING TO THIS WOULDNT BE IN THE TOP 20 4A TEAMS.

Henry Clay is ranked higher than Lafayette because the Bluedevils were blowing teams out and Lafayette was winning by smaller margins. This all goes back to the style points issue. Lafayette was still getting the job done, just not as "impressive" as HC was. The bottom line is that a win is a win is a win, but Cantrell and other ranking systems may not agree.
As has been noted, Henry Clay's schedule has been considerably tougher. That certainly counts as much as "style points" do.

And who says that Bell County would be? Bell is barely in the top 10 in 3A, if at all.

I DO. THEY PLAYED HENRY CLAY T THE WIRE AND HAVE YOU LOOKED AT SOME OF THE SCHOOLS FROM 11 DOWN TO 20 IN 4A FOR INSTACE RYLE HAS ONLY BEAT THREE TEAMS WITH A WINNING RECORD

Sorry about the caps did not mean to offend anyone.

Mayfield ranked below Tilghman and Hopkinsville...I could make a case for Hopkinsville, playing the likes of Male and Ridgeway and the Mayfield game could have gone either way, but, Tilghmans schedule is very similar to Mayfields, they lose head to head and they have an overall losing record. Go figure!

Mayfield and Tilghman went to overtime ... also could have gone either way. Tilghman's schedule is tougher than Mayfield's, as it should be.

Plus, Tilghman lost to Graves County 21-14 and Mayfield lost 28-0 to the Eagles ... and those subpar performances against Murray and Fulton City haven't helped.

They must use the cheat codes.

I think Johnson Central with a soft schedule being ranked high can throw the Lexington, Louisville arguement out the window. Beat the teams you play by alot and Cantrell will rank you high. Im very proud of my Eagles but this ranking means nothing without playoff wins.

I agree with you. JC has played some soft teams, but that isnt their fault. Most games are scheduled a year or two ahead of time. Teams have their off and on years. If JC would have played some state powerhouses and beat them like they have everybody else, then I could see JC wanting that top spot. Until then, I am sure all JC fans will be happy were they are at.

And what have I said since my first day on bluegrasspreps.com, rankings are only good for discussion on bgp.

I'm sorry but Johnson Central should be ranked higher. They flat spanked Ashland last week. I guess I just hate computer rankings because they don't look at the big picture. l

I agree to disagree on the schedules..They look pretty even to me...look at the previous rankings before the Murray and Fulton City games, PT was higher then, too...Yes, the PT game could have gone either way and I almost said that, but, chose to get to the point.. I feel WCentral is better than anyone Mayfield has played, but, Hopkinsville is as good as anyone else PT has played and both have played Graves, so thats a wash...So, it really comes down to PT playing Henderson and Ft Campbell and Mayfield playing Marshall and Caldwell...not much difference to me...now if you throw in district games, you may have a point, but, i'm not real sure Calloway and Hopk Central are too much better than Fulton City & Fulton Co.
