Report on School Shooting in Maryland Released by Police

Featured Replies

I agree, it doesn't diminish anything the SRO did. In fact, just reinforces that when faced with someone with a gun to fight back, these cowards will fold like a house of cards.

This shooting happened how long ago? No outrage that it took this long to release the information?

Wasn’t it just last week?

A week ago today.

So it's Ok for the police to wait a week to release a report about a shooting. I'm good with it. Just seems that in other shootings involving police there was outrage when reports were not released right away?

We're talking a week here compared to several months sometimes in those instances....In addition, there was nothing questionable about this officer's actions. Apples to oranges IMO.

Something of this magnitude being released in a week is basically world record efficiency by the Government.

The SRO was brave and did his job.

However, this development undermines the idea that all we need in our schools is a “good guy with a gun.” For all we know the shooter did all he wanted, and was not affected by the SRO.

Or, maybe he would have killed some others he had issues with.

He didn't kill himself until he was confronted I beleive...no reason to think he wouldn't have kept shooting classmates had he not been confronted by someone shooting at him.

We both are speculating. He may have chosen to run out the door.

To be clear I want our nation to focus on keeping guns out of schools. Armed officers are the last reactive line of defense, but we need to be more proactive.

If we were serious about protecting our children the last line of defense would be Armed Teachers.

But to your other point, yes, getting into a school should be a watered down version of TSA at the Airport. Again, if we are serious about protecting our children.

I agree with your second point.

Arming teachers is where we have to agree to disagree.

I think of it as a Stopgap until "we the people" get our act together.
